Klaus and the Boarding School Christmas

Tuesday: Rustin (2023)     This is based on a true story. Bayard Rustin was a civil rights activist who worked closely with Martin Luther King Jr. He was an important figure in the movement until he was outed as being gay. He spent a while working a job he hated. Bayard starts to notice how disconnected all the civil rights groups are. And how there are still many ways in which people of color are discriminated against in the U.S. He comes up with a plan to unite all the groups together in one large march, the March on Washington. Bayard and many others work hard to get ready for the march and get the groups involved. He is successful. I thought this movie was good. I had never heard of him before. I didn't know he was the one who orchestrated the march. Wednesday: On Borrowed Time (1939)      Julian and his wife become the guardians of their grandson, Pud, when his parents die in a car crash. Yet can't help feeling attracted to him. Turns out he is Shepley's roommate so she sees him more than she thought she would. Despite her best efforts she falls for him. I thought this movie was ok. The acting wasn't very good, especially the actress who played Abby. Definitely a B movie, maybe even a C movie if such a thing exists. Wednesday: Dressed to Kill (1980)       One of Dr. Elliott's patients is killed. He later finds out it was one of his other patients, Bobbi, who did it. Bobbi is a trans woman. But she learns that he has other motives for his wish collecting and granting. Desperate to make it right Asha wishes on a star. The star comes down from the sky to her. It wants to help her take on Magnifico. I thought this movie was alright. I enjoyed it but it wasn't the best. I really enjoyed all the references to other Disney movies. Some are more obvious. It took me a while to realize her seven friends are a version of the seven dwarves. Well I got Dopey right away but didn't connect it was all of them till later. Ice Cream Tacos and the Worst Soccer Team Ever

While I was in California I met my friend at a place called Sweet Rolled Tacos in Redlands. It's a favorite of her's. It's in a small shopping center. The store itself is small with simple decor. There are some cute murals on the walls. The bases of the tables are vintage Singer sewing tables. The service was good. The ice cream is flattened and then rolled. It is placed in a waffle cone shaped like a taco shell. They have a variety of shell colors to choose from. I got one called Monster Ink. It was blue chocolate chip cookie and oreo ice cream topped with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and a small chocolate chip cookie. I got a green shell. It was good. I would go back. This is their first clue vampires are around. The villagers won't talk about it. Alfred falls for the daughter of the innkeeper. One night she is taken by Count von Krolock. The professor and Alfred follow the tracks to Krolock's castle and discover he is a vampire. Not expecting to actually find a vampire they are unprepared to take him on and save the innkeeper's daughter. I thought this movie was good. It's silly. More comedy than horror.
