Tuesday: High Hopes (1988)        This is a British film. Cyril and his long time girlfriend Shirley are a middle class couple living in London. They are non conforming and Marxist. Cyril has complicated relationships with his mother and sister. His mother's health is failing. But she is stubborn. His sister is narcissistic and only cares about looking like she is rich. She only helps with their mother to make herself look better. In the end it's about her and not her mother. Things can't go on as they are and Cyril has to find out what to do. I thought this movie was alright. Thursday: The Beanie Bubble (2023)        This movie is about the creator of Beanie Babies, Ty Warner. Although really it's about the three woman behind his success. First there is Robbie who was his business partner when they first started. She got cut out of the business. The second is Maya who started as a secretary but became a big part of the company. Cookies n' Cream and the Crash Landing

Tuesday I went to Mcbee's Shakes Crepes & Cones. It is in Portland (Hillsboro) on NW West Union. It's a small place in a shopping center. There is plenty of parking. The decor is modern with fun colors. Very Portland. There is lots of seating. The service is good. As the name suggests they offer a lot of treats. Crepes, sundaes, milkshakes, monster shakes (extra crazy toppings), soft serve, and dole whip. I heard they had really good milkshakes. I got Cookies & Cream. It has little pieces of oreo mixed in along with hot fudge on the inside of the cup. It was really good. I would go back. Although it is a long drive. Monday: Long Day's Journey Into Night (1962)       The Tyrone family has many troubles. They all come to a head one day. Mary, the mother, has struggled with her addiction to morphine. She was prescribed it after the birth of one of her children. Mary has been in and out of rehab. Her addiction has affected the whole family. ...

Robot Cowboy and the Arranged Marriage

Monday: Westworld (1973)        This movie takes place in the future. Peter and his friend John are going to an adult-themed amusement park. The options are West world,  Roman world, or Medieval world. It is totally immersive. Guest interact with robots who look human in these worlds. They can live their fantasy. Peter and John go to West world. They get into fights, spend time at a saloon, and more. Something is going on with the robots. They start to become dangerous and are not taking commands. Peter and John are targeted by a gunslinger who is determined to kill them. I thought this movie was alright. I've see the TV show that is based on this. I think I liked this better. But that's probably because the last two seasons of the TV show were so slow and boring. This movie went by fast. Saturday: Double Feature- Midsommar (2019) and What's Love Got to Do with It? (2022)         Midsommar is about a young woman named Dani. She suffers ...

Indiana Jones and the Glass Castle

Friday: Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)        After retiring Indiana is approached by his goddaughter, Helena. She wants to find the half of Archimedes' dial that was once in possession of her father. This dial is thought to be able to help the user travel through time. Helena wants Indiana to come with her to find it.  He is reluctant to do so. Then he finds out that a Nazi doctor from his past is also looking for it. He decides to help Helena but her intentions aren't honorable. Indiana doesn't know who to trust. But he does know he can't let the Nazi get it. He follows Helena across the world trying to get the dial and all that comes with it before the Nazi. I thought this movie was good. It was a good end to the Indiana Jones films. Although I was a little disappointed that Steven Spielberg didn't direct it. He did produce it with George Lucas so that's something.  Saturday: The Glass Castle (2017)         This is...
