Barbie and the Framed Knight

 Tuesday: Repeat Performance (1947)

      After an argument with her husband Shelia kills him on New Year's Eve. She instantly regrets it and wishes she could do the whole year over. Her wish comes true. The next thing she knows it's exactly one year ago. Shelia is determined to do it different this time. Hoping for different results. She is an actress and her husband is a playwright. She changes her travel plans and turns down a role. Thinking that will change how the year goes. But the events seem to still unfold in a similar way. Her wish might not have helped. I thought this movie was alright.

Wednesday: Man Wanted (1932) 

      Lois is an editor for a magazine. She has a hard time finding a secretary who can keep up with her. One night while getting a demonstration for an exercise machine at her office from a man named Tom her current secretary leaves. Tom jumps in to help. He does a great job, so she hires him. They work well together. He is engaged and she is married. Despite that they start to fall for each other as their other relationships become strained. This movie is good.

Friday: Barbie (2023)

       Barbie loves living in Barbieland with all the other Barbies and Kens. Everyday is a perfect day. Then she starts to have some strange thoughts and she changes. She wants to go back to how she was before. To do that she has to go to the real world and find the girl who is playing with her. Ken follows her. Barbie soon realizes how different the real world is. She has to find a way to fix the problem and discover what she wants. I thought this movie was good. It's a lot of fun. It's also a strong feminist film. It has many deeper messages. It was really well done. The details were amazing. 

Saturday: Nimona (2023)

        A knight in training, Ballister, is about to be knighted. Then he is framed for a crime. He wants to clear his name. A young teen named Nimona finds him. They think he is a villain and want to work with him. After learning he is not a villain and wants to prove his innocence Nimona decides to help. Together they work to find out who did commit the crime and why. While also learning more about the true history of their town. This movie was good. It's cute.

Shoyu Ramen and the Baron

        Friday I went to a place called Hapa Ramen.  It's on SE Gladstone. It actually has it's own parking lot. That being said there is only 5 or 6 spots. It's a small place. You order and then you find your table. I sat at the ramen bar. The decor is dark. Most of the walls and part of the bar is covered in dark wood panels. There are also shelves with lots of plants and Japanese decorations. It is also a whiskey bar. They even have pairings with the different menu items. I didn't get any. I ordered the Shoyu Ramen which has pork and a marinated egg. It was really good. But I forgot to ask for no onions, which ruined it a little for me. To be fair the menu didn't say it came with onions but I guess that's a common ingredient in ramen. The service was good.  I would go back for sure. I know it's a place my sister would like. Grogu and the Friendly Neighbor

 Friday: Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026)         The Mandalorian (Mando) and Grogu are working for the New Republic. There are still many Imperial Warlords out there even if the Empire has fallen. Their new assignment is to find a warlord who is dangerous but not much is known about him. The Hutts have information on him. They will give it to Mando if he can rescue their nephew, Rotta. Rotta has been kidnapped and made to fight in nightly cage matches. Mando and Grogu set out to rescue him, but much more is at play than they knew. I thought this movie was good. It's a stand alone adventure. So if you haven't watched the tv series you'll be ok. Wish I had known that before I gave me parents (who went with me) a recap of all three seasons. Oh well. They still enjoyed it. Grogu is so cute. And that's all the matters.
