Annoying Cousin and the Basketball Team

Wednesday: The Road Dance (2021)       Kirsty is a young woman who lives on the coast of Scotland. She dreams of leaving and going to the United States. She wants more than just being a farmer. Murdo, her boyfriend, comes home after training to fight in WWI. They talk and make plans to get married and move to the U.S. Then Murdo and all the young men from the village are called to fight in the war. The night before they leave tragedy strikes and Kirsty is raped by an unknown man. She has no idea if the man who did it is now off to war. Later she finds out she is pregnant. Kirsty does her best to hide it and figure out what to do next. The war brings loss and pain, but they must go on. I thought this movie was alright. Thursday: Timer (2009)      Set in the near future, people can get timers implanted. It will tell you when you will meet your soulmate. Oona is obsessed with finding her soulmate. Her timer is blank. She doesn't stay in a relationship if...

Pesto Pizza and the Guilty Juror

Saturday I went to Wild Child Pizza on NE Alberta. There is street parking. It is small. It's painted orange and black with a bold pattern on the orange. There is a small alley you go into and order at the window. There is no seating. At least not when I went. They make Detroit style pan pizza. I got two slices, pesto chicken and pepperoni. The pepperoni had a dollop of marinara on top. It was good but spicy. The pesto chicken had bacon and a ranch drizzle on top. It was SO good. There was no where else to sit and eat, so I ended up eating it in my car. The service was good. It seemed like a long time before I got my slices even though they were already cut. I realized this was to add the other ingredients on top and heat it up. I would go back tomorrow. I'll be dreaming about that pizza. Tuesday: Only You (1994)      When Faith was a teenager she learned from an ouija board and a fortune teller that her soulmate's name is Damon Bradley. Later when it is wee...

Black Cat and the Glam Rocker

Tuesday: Woman of the Hour (2024)       This is based on a true story. Set in the 70s, Sheryl is an aspiring actress in Hollywood. She books a gig as a contestant on The Dating Game . She hope it will give her exposure. She ends up picking Rodney Alcala. He seems like a great guy. Little does she know he is a serial killer. I thought this movie was alright. I had heard about him before on a podcast I listen to. It was interesting to see it from her point of view.  Thursday: The Black Cat (1934)       The movie, as the credits say, is suggested by the Edgar Allan Poe story. Peter and Joan are newlyweds on their honeymoon in Hungary. They ends up sharing a train compartment with a doctor named Vitus. They gets off at the same stop and take the same taxi bus. There is an accident. Luckily they are near Vitus's destination. The home of famed architect Hjalmar Poelzig. He reluctantly lets them in. Joan was hurt in the crash. While she is recovering Pe...

Venom and the Imaginative Siblings

Friday: Venom: The Last Dance (2024)        Eddie and Venom are on the run and hiding in Mexico. They are wanted for murder. Eddie finds out that even in Mexico they are looking for him. So he makes a plan to get to NYC to clear his name. Before they can even leave the country they are attacked by an alien. It comes from the same planet as Venom. It was sent to get Venom. An evil alien has been kept prisoner on their planet. He needs the symbiotes to escape and sent his henchmen to bring them back. Under Area 51 the other symbiotes are being studied. Little do the scientists and military personnel know they will soon be a target for an attack. Eddie and Venom have to outrun the police, the military, and the henchmen to try and make it to NYC. I thought this movie was alright. It is better than the second movie but not by much. It has some good humor. But it is campy and the story isn't the best. Saturday: Come Away (2020)         Alice and P...

Competitive Chef and the Cursed Ring

Tuesday: Girl Haunts Boy (2024)        Bea is a teenage girl living in the 1920s. At a school trip to a museum she finds a ring and ends up taking it. Outside of the museum she gets hit by a car and dies. A hundred years later Cole and his mom move into Bea's old house. Weird things start to happen in his room. Then he finds the ring and is able to see Bea while wearing it. Cole is freaked out a first and wants Bea gone. She wins him over and they become friends despite being from very different times. Friendship turns to something else as they try to figure out what happened to Bea and how it's connected to the ring. I thought this movie was alright. It's cute. Saturday: We Live in Time (2024)        Tobias is on a work trip when he gets hit by a car. When he wakes up a young woman, Almut, is sitting with him. She is the one who hit him. They have instant chemistry. Almut is a chef on the rise. She invites Tobias to the opening of her resta...

Ancestors and the PG Spray

Friday: Piece by Piece (2024)       This is a music documentary but done in Lego. It is about the singer and producer Pharrell Williams. He grew up in Virginia Beach. Pharrell always loved music. He also has chromethesia, meaning he can see colors when he hears music. In high school he started a band called The Neptunes. Later a record label opened in his town. He got his start there. He became a producer first. Working with musicians like Jay-Z, Gwen Stefani, Snoop Dogg, and more. Later he was able to perform his own songs. Pharrell's fame and success has had highs and lows, but he's finally in a better place. I thought this movie was alright. It was interesting to learn about him. It's a unique way to tell his story, in Lego. Technically it's a kids movie too. I don't think a lot of the parents knew what they were taking their kids to see. My favorite part was when he first meets Snoop Dogg an assistant sprays "PG Spray". Which looks a lot like smoke. I...

After a blackout he is diagnosed with a rare disease. Ed only has months to live, but there is a new drug that can help him. It is hormone cortisone. It works quickly and he starts to feel better. Soon his personality changes. He has bouts of mania and depression. He becomes aggressive and mean. His wife doesn't know what to do. They can't go on living with him when he's like this, but without the drug he will die. I thought this movie was alright.  Friday: Joker: Folie a Deux (2024)          Arthur is in Arkham waiting on his trail. His lawyer is trying to prove that he has multiple personalities. The Joker takes over and Arthur has no control. The prosecution is not buying it. Arthur meets another patient in Arkham, Lee. She ...
