Wednesday: Appointment with Death (1988)
Hercule Poirot is traveling around Europe and ends up on the same boat headed to Jerusalem as the Boynton family. Emily Boynton is there with her three stepchildren and her daughter. Her husband recently passed away. She had the lawyer throw away the second will, so now everything is left to her. The children are surprised, they thought they would get everything. They reluctantly agree to go on the trip to Europe and the Holy Land with her. Hercule overhears conversations between the children. They are very upset with their stepmother. To the point they are planning to kill her. It is clear something bad is about to happen. When Emily is found dead he investigates. I thought this movie was alright.
Friday: The Wild Robot (2024)
Roz is a helper robot who crash lands on an island whose only inhabitants are animals. She struggles with her programming to help potential clients. Roz has to learn about the wild and the animals. After an accident Roz ends up saving a goose egg. When it hatches the goose imprints on Roz as his mother. She finally has a task. With the help of a fox named Fink she raises the goose, Brightbill, and prepares him to migrate. It's a challenge. Brightbill doesn't fit in with the other animals, especially the geese. But Roz is determined to help him. This movie is good. It's a good story. The animation is unique style. It is a mix of 2D animation and CGI (from what I understand). So each frame is painted. It's a beautiful effect.
Saturday: Wolfs (2024)
A fixer is called to help an important New York official cover up the death of a young man in her hotel room. Soon after he arrives another fixer shows up. He works for the hotel. They are forced to work together to get rid of the body. What should be a simple job grows more complicated as the night goes on. The two fixers have to do their best to work together to finish the job. I thought this movie was alright. It's fun to see Brad Pitt and George Clooney in a movie together again. It's entertaining, just not the best ever.
