Friday: You. Me & Tuscany (2026)
Anna is a young woman who lost her passion for cooking after her mother passed. She's been housesitting, but it's not enough. One night she meets and Italian man, Matteo. They hit it off and he tells her about his empty villa in Italy that he never uses. Anna takes this as an invitation to use her pre-paid plane ticket and fly to Italy and stay at his empty villa. She gets caught by his family. They assume she is his fiancee and she goes along with it. Anna is introduced to the rest of the family, including Matteo's adopted brother Michael. Michael and Anna immediately hit it off, but can't do anything because she is engaged to his brother. When Matteo shows up things get even more complicated. I thought this movie was alright. It's cute and nice to have a new romantic comedy come out in theaters . It's just a little cheesy and over the top for me. Almost like a Hallmark movie or the like.
Saturday: The Bad Guys (2025)
The Bad Guys are struggling to go straight. No one wants to hire them. But they are determined to be better. Then they are framed for a crime they didn't commit. They have no choice but to work with the female crime group that framed them. They feel themselves being pulled back to their old life. The Bad Guys have to figure what they want to do next. I thought this movie was alright. Fun animation style.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Friday: The Drama (2026)
Emma and Charlie are a young couple about to get married in a couple of days. At a tasting with their friends everyone goes around and reveals the worst thing they've done. Emma reluctantly tells hers. It's so bad that it creates a rift between her and her friends. Charlie isn't sure if he can marry her after learning this. He has to really think about whether he can deal with her secret. I thought this movie was alright. The acting is good. It poses an interesting question about could you forgive someone in that situation. Could you live with them. There are a lot of awkward and uncomfortable moments. Unfortunately her secret was revealed by Yahoo Entertainment a week before the movie came out. It was on Facebook. Usually they just do a little blurb to get you to click on the link to the full article. That blurb usually doesn't have any spoilers. But this one did. Then when the movie came out Yahoo Entertainment had the gall to post an article basically saying what could her secret be. You'll have to see the movie to find out kind of thing. Like they hadn't just spoiled the movie the week before. I was still curious enough to go see it even though they spoiled it.
Saturday: In & Out (1997)
An English teacher, Howard, is about to get married to his fiancee, Emily. A few nights before, they are watching the Oscar because a former student is nominated for Best Actor. The student wins and in his acceptance speech while thanking Howard he out him for being gay. This is a shock to everyone, including Howard. Howard has to reassure Emily and everyone that he his straight. Soon TV journalists of all kinds descend on their small town. Howard tries to go on as if everything is normal. But he starts to question if he really is straight. This movie was ok. A fun comedy. Just some of the acting and writing were over the top.
