Puppy Grandparents and the Haunted Palazzo

 Tuesday: Glengarry Glen Ross (1992)

The story centers around a real estate office in Brooklyn. This location is struggling to make sales. A big wig from the downtown office comes to reprimand them. He tells them that they have a month to get their sales up. Those with the lowest sales will be fired. The person with the most sales gets a cadillac. The men in the office aren't happy. They get the worst leads. People that have already been talked to several times and have no interest. The big wig had brought a stack of cards of great leads, leads that are new and a sure thing. But only the top seller can get them. Some of the men decide to steal the leads and sell them to another real estate office. It doesn't go as planned. I thought this movie was ok. It's a lot of men yelling at each other.

Friday: 55 Steps (2017)

This is based on a true story. Eleanor is a schizophrenic patient at a mental health hospital. She is not being treated fairly. She is forcibly given medication without her consent. The medication has many negative side effects that are greatly effecting her life. So she hires a patients' rights lawyer named Colette. Colette is appalled at how Eleanor and other patients are being treated. She takes on the case. One of the first things she does is get Eleanor released. Colette works with another lawyer to file a suit that will allow competent patients to have a say in what medication they are given. They face many challenges to get it passed, but they keep fighting. This movie was good. It looks like it was filmed longer ago than 2017. It is set in the late 80's, so maybe it's just how they filmed it to make it look like that time period.

Saturday: A Haunting in Venice (2023)

After WWII Hercule Poirot has retired in Venice. He refuses to take anymore cases. Then his American author friend, Ariadne, comes to visit him. She wants him to come with him to see a medium named Mrs. Reynolds. Ariadne can't figure out how Mrs. Reynolds does what she does. She's starting to think Mrs. Reynolds is the real deal. Ariadne wants Hercule's help to find proof that Mrs. Reynolds is a fake. He agrees to go to a seance being held at the palazzo owned by an opera singer named Rowena on Halloween night. Hercule learns of the dark past of the palazzo. Also how Rowena's daughter had apparently committed suicide the year before. Rowena wants to do a seance to communicate with her daughter. During the seance they learn that the daughter was murdered. Hercule reluctantly gets pulled into the case. I thought this movie was good. Some of it was a little over done, but still good for the most part. I guessed correctly who the killer was.

Sunday: Puppy Love (2023)

Max is a very nervous man with social anxiety. His therapist recommends he gets a dog. He adopts a dog and names her Chloe. She helps him a lot. His therapist's next suggestion is to try dating. Max matches with Nicole on a dating app. She is a real estate stager who recently rescued a stray and named him Channing Tatum. They meet for a date at a dog park with their dogs. The date is a disaster. They agree to never contact each other. Then Max finds out Chloe is pregnant. So he reaches out to Nicole to get to the bottom of how that happened. They end up co-parenting the dogs. The dogs are not the only love match that happens. This movie is good. I don't like all of the humor, but it's still cute.

Travel Friends and the Logger's Life

Friday: No Other Choice (2025)         This is a Korean film. Man-su was let go after working at a paper factory for many years. He struggles to find a new job. Without his income his family has to start making cuts. It really starts to wear down on Man-su. There is a position at another paper factory. There are only a few men qualified for the job. Man-su realizes if he eliminates the competition he will get the job. So he eliminates them, permanently. I thought this movie was alright. Weird and violent. The acting is good. Saturday: Merrily We Roll Along (2025)          This is actually a broadway musical that they filmed. It shows the friendship of a lyricist, Frank, a playwright, Charley, and a writer, Mary. The plays starts in the mid 70s. Frank is a big shot in Hollywood. Mary comes to visit him after the success of his most recent movie. Their relationship is strained. He doesn't even talk to Charley anymore. From there the story...

Surprise Chorizo and the Floating Castle

Well after two months I was finally able to go to a restaurant on my list. I went to Tight Tacos, the SE Division location. There is neighborhood parking on the streets behind it, but you might have to drive around a little. It is a small restaurant next to other restaurants and shops. They were only open for take out but there were picnic tables you could sit at on the sidewalk. The tables were in the shade so it was nice on a warm day. From what I could see inside it was clean and modern. There is some color and hanging Christmas lights. The service was good. I got three tacos: chicken, carnitas, and asada. I think that I got chorizo instead of asada. It was actually the best one flavor wise. The carnitas meat was good but there wasn't a lot of flavor. I forgot to ask for no onions so I had to scrape them off. The tacos were good. I would go back. The one problem I had was they serve the food in takeout containers. And they have tables for you to sit ...

King George III and the Abandoned Door

Friday: Fight or Flight (2025)       Lucas is a former secret service agent. He was stranded in Bangkok after a failed assignment. Later he receives a call from his ex who know works at a different agency. A target, only known as Ghost, is getting on a plane headed for the U.S. He is the only one close enough to get on the plane in time. Lucas has to find Ghost and bring them home. Soon he discovers the plane is filled with people wanting to kill both of them. Lucas has to protect Ghost. This movie was ok. Except for the two main actors, all the acting is bad. The writing is bad. It's like they thought they could just put in a bunch of swear words and not have to actually write dialogue. There are some fun moments. It's basically Bullet Train but on a plane. Just watch Bullet Train instead. Saturday: Suzume (2022)       Suzume is a teenage girl living in Japan. One day she meets a mysterious young man, Souta, who is looking for an abandoned place with...
