Monday: Libeled Lady (1936)
A newspaper editor, Warren, is getting ready to marry his fiancee, Gladys, when he learns his newspaper has printed an article with false information. He rushes to fix it. Luckily only a new issues got out before they fixed it. Unfortunately the subject of the article, a socialite named Connie, saw the article. She sues the paper for printing false information. The paper doesn't have that kind of money. It would ruin the paper. Warren concocts a scheme. He brings in an old friend, Bill, who has gotten the paper out of situations like this. Bill will get married to Gladys. Then he will seduce Connie, and the paper and Gladys will catch them in a compromising situation. Connie will be forced to call off the lawsuit. Bill travels on the same ship as Connie and her father to get close to them. He ends up falling for Connie and messes up Warren's scheme. I thought this movie was alright.
Tuesday: An Alligator Named Daisy (1955)
On his way back to England Peter meets a woman named Moira on a ship. Later his cabin mate tells Peter how he was kicked out of his house because of his pet alligator. Peter doesn't believe him and says his cabin mate's wife is more important than the alligator. When Peter wakes up the next day there is an alligator in his bag. It's his cabin mate's alligator named Daisy. Peter isn't sure what to do. He meets Moira again. She works at the zoo. When he tells her about Daisy she says the zoo won't take it but she will help. They are attracted to each other but are both engaged. Peter tries to find a place for Daisy but no where will take her. He becomes attached to her and decides to keep her despite the trouble she continues to cause. This is a cute movie. I guess it is a musical but there were only a couple of songs. They weren't very good. If you ignore them the rest of the movie is fine.

They are all traveling to a destination unknown. This movie was alright.
Friday: This is England (2006)
Shaun is a young boy who lost his father in the Falkland Island war. He is picked on at school. One day a group of skinheads befriend him. Their leader, Woody, takes Shaun under his wing. Shaun becomes a skinhead. They are just having fun goofing around and vandalizing abandoned houses. Then Woody's friend Combo is released from prison. He comes back to town. Combo changed in prison. He now believes in a pure England and that everyone else should be driven out. Some of his other points are unemployment for white people and the unnecessary Falkland war. He is mostly concerned with driving out people from Pakistan. Woody and most others in the group don't want any part of this and leave. Shaun stays with Combo to right the wrong done to his father. He soon regrets his decision. I thought this movie was ok. It mostly made me mad.
Saturday: Malcolm & Marie (2021)
Malcolm and Marie return home after the premiere of the movie Malcolm wrote and directed. Marie is upset because Malcolm didn't thank her in his speech. They fight and get down to deeper issues. The movie is very close to Marie's life. Yet she wasn't involved in the movie and wasn't thanked for her support. They argue and make up as they await critics review of the film. This is a really good movie. The writing is amazing. There are only two actors in the whole movie, Zendaya and John David Washington. They do such a good job. There are several long monologues that they both deliver masterfully. It is in black and white. At the beginning of the movie Marie makes Malcolm mac and cheese. I was eating mac and cheese as I watched them make and then eat it. It was a funny coincidence.
