Shakespeare and the Nazi Hunter

Tuesday: Sweet Charity (1969)
Charity works as a hostess at a dance hall. She is unlucky in love. Her current boyfriend pushes her off a bridge and steals her purse. The purse contained all the money she had. Charity encounters a famous Italian film star. They spend the night getting to know each other. Nothing comes of it other than a fun night. No one believes that it happened. She is desperate to find another job and start a new life. After a failed interview she gets stuck in an elevator with a nerdy insurance man named Oscar. Despite being so different they fall in love. The plan to get married, but her past life threatens to change that. I liked this movie ok. It was a little cheesy for my taste. It is a musical directed by Bob Fosse. I did like that she became her own happy ending. She didn't need a man to have a happy ending.

Wednesday: Marathon Man (1976)
Thomas is a grad student studying in New York. He thinks is brother is just a business man. But Doc, the brother, is actually a spy who is hunting down former Nazis. Doc's primary target is a man named Christian Szell. Szell was known for sneaking Jews out of Germany in exchange for diamonds and gold fillings. He has been in hiding. When his brother dies he has to come out of hiding to make sure his diamonds are safe. Doc intervenes and ends up dead. Before he dies he goes to Thomas. Szell believes Thomas knows where his diamonds are and tortures him. Szell uses his dentist skills to try and get the information. I liked this movie. I don't know that I would watch it again but it was entertaining.

Thursday: All is True (2018)
This movie is about William Shakespeare in his later life. After the Globe burns down he returns to his wife and adult children in Stratford. He spent most of the past 10 or so years in London. He finds is hard to transition into his home life. His is disconnected from his family. He still grieves for the loss of his son Hamnet. His family had already grieved and don't like him making them do it all over again. His family faces two scandals with each of his daughters. Shakespeare does his best to help his family. I liked this movie. Despite the scandal events it was still a little slow.

Friday: The Sun is Also a Star (2019)
Natasha has lived in New York City most of her life. She loves it. Natasha also loves to learn about space. Her family is being deported to Jamaica. She tries to do all she can to stop it. Daniel is on his way to a college interview when he saves Natasha from being hit by a car. He is taken by her. He believes it is destiny. She is unconvinced. Daniel says he can make her love him in one day. They spend the rest of the day getting to know each other. Natasha's possible deportation threatens to put a stop to a relationship that could be great. I liked this movie ok. It was cheesy, as expected. I did like that it was an interracial couple.

Travel Friends and the Logger's Life

Friday: No Other Choice (2025)         This is a Korean film. Man-su was let go after working at a paper factory for many years. He struggles to find a new job. Without his income his family has to start making cuts. It really starts to wear down on Man-su. There is a position at another paper factory. There are only a few men qualified for the job. Man-su realizes if he eliminates the competition he will get the job. So he eliminates them, permanently. I thought this movie was alright. Weird and violent. The acting is good. Saturday: Merrily We Roll Along (2025)          This is actually a broadway musical that they filmed. It shows the friendship of a lyricist, Frank, a playwright, Charley, and a writer, Mary. The plays starts in the mid 70s. Frank is a big shot in Hollywood. Mary comes to visit him after the success of his most recent movie. Their relationship is strained. He doesn't even talk to Charley anymore. From there the story...

Surprise Chorizo and the Floating Castle

Well after two months I was finally able to go to a restaurant on my list. I went to Tight Tacos, the SE Division location. There is neighborhood parking on the streets behind it, but you might have to drive around a little. It is a small restaurant next to other restaurants and shops. They were only open for take out but there were picnic tables you could sit at on the sidewalk. The tables were in the shade so it was nice on a warm day. From what I could see inside it was clean and modern. There is some color and hanging Christmas lights. The service was good. I got three tacos: chicken, carnitas, and asada. I think that I got chorizo instead of asada. It was actually the best one flavor wise. The carnitas meat was good but there wasn't a lot of flavor. I forgot to ask for no onions so I had to scrape them off. The tacos were good. I would go back. The one problem I had was they serve the food in takeout containers. And they have tables for you to sit ...

Wolf and the Fake Fiancee

Friday: You. Me & Tuscany (2026)        Anna is a young woman who lost her passion for cooking after her mother passed. She's been housesitting, but it's not enough. One night she meets and Italian man, Matteo. They hit it off and he tells her about his empty villa in Italy that he never uses. Anna takes this as an invitation to use her pre-paid plane ticket and fly to Italy and stay at his empty villa. She gets caught by his family. They assume she is his fiancee and she goes along with it. Anna is introduced to the rest of the family, including Matteo's adopted brother Michael. Michael and Anna immediately hit it off, but can't do anything because she is engaged to his brother. When Matteo shows up things get even more complicated. I thought this movie was alright. It's cute and nice to have a new romantic comedy come out in theaters . It's just a little cheesy and over the top for me. Almost like a Hallmark movie or the like.  Saturday: The Bad Guys...
