Thor and the Dating App

Monday: Bullitt (1968)       Bullitt is a cop who is tasked with protecting a witness for an upcoming trail against a mob organization. The witness is the brother of the head of the mob. He is going to snitch on them. An up and coming politician/lawyer needs this case to go well so he can move up in the politics world. When the witness is killed Bullitt realizes there is more going on than he was told. He needs to find the leader of the mob and end this. I liked the movie ok. The music was kind of weird. There would only sometimes be music. Usually in a car chase or something like that. It sounded like the Pink Panther theme song. There were some random disjointed moments with Bullitt and his girlfriend. They didn't add to the plot at all. It took away from the rest of the movie. They should have just cut those scenes.  Tuesday: Double Feature- The Perfect Date (2019) and The Last Picture Show (1971)           The Perfect Date is abou...

Haunted Dessert and the Sasquatch

After not going to a restaurant on my list for a while I was able to go to two this week. The first is Pizza Jerk. We went to the 42nd Ave. location. It is set up like a classic pizza place with white and red checkered tables and all that. But it also has a rocker Portland vibe. There are posters for rock bands on the walls. Beer seems to be the popular beverage this being Portland and all. It is family friendly. There is a huge outdoor eating area. The service was ok. Maybe that's the jerk in Pizza Jerk. We got the thin crust New York style pizza. Half Meatzza and half Margarita. It was good but the crust was burnt. There wasn't anything special that would have me coming back again. There are places closer to me with better pizza.         For dessert we went to Rimsky-Korsakoffee House. If the GPS on my phone hadn't told me we had arrived I would have just driven right past it. There is a small sign above the door, but you can't see it u...

John Lennon and the Doppelgänger

Tuesday: Life with Father (1947)       This movie is about a family who lives around the strict rules of the father. He has a very specific way he wants things done. He is a financial business man and keeps track of every cent. His family has grown to accept his ways. His wife knows how to get around him to get what she wants. He learns that he needs to make some changes and to let things be. I liked this movie. I don't know that I have seen a movie with Irene Dunne in color before. I'm also not sure this movie was originally in color because all the colors seemed extra bright and a little off. Wednesday: The Prisoner of Zenda (1937)       An Englishman goes to the Ruritarian countryside on vacation. There he meets the future king. They look exactly alike. They discover they are long lost cousins. The prince is there to celebrate before he is crowned king the next day. He drinks some wine that turns out to be drugged. His friends realize that his brothe...

He is very handsome and charming. They get married. Then after one day of their honeymoon he disappears. It turns out he is gay and prone to running away. Daisy continues to work in movies, but faces many struggles and ends up quitting. This movie was ok. It just seemed like it was trying too hard to be something it's not. Friday: Shazam! Then the plane crashes into a snowy mountain. Everyone survives but the pilot. A mysterious group of villagers rescues them and takes them back to their village. It is hidden between the mountains. It is untouched by snow or cold. It is a beautiful paradise protected by the mountains. They call it Shangri-La. There are many mysterious and fantastical things about this place. The new people are resistant at first but then slowly grow to like it. I liked this movie. Tuesday: My Favorite Wife  (1940)       This movie stars Cary Grant and Irene Dunne.
