Friday: Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026)
Everyone has forgotten that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. He has to try and move on with his life. Peter devotes all his time to being Spider-Man. He watches his friends go through college. Not long after they graduate things start to change for Peter. His powers are evolving in ways he can't control. He's worried it's too much. So he tries to find a way to control them. Meanwhile something is possessing people. It moves from person to person invisibly. The focus seems to be the Damage Control building and what's being held in it's vaults. While adapting to his new powers, Peter must try and stop this invisible force. I thought this movie was good. I wasn't sure how they would top the third one. They came up with a good story. Although the third one is still better. They introduced a new character. Her addition to the MCU is interesting. We'll see where that goes.
Saturday: Like Minds (2006)
This movie is also called Murderous Intent depending on where you look. On streaming it is Like Minds. Sally is a forensic psychologist. She is tasked with finding out if a teenage boy, Alex, killed his classmate, Nigel. Alex is cryptic. He maintains he didn't kill Nigel. He tells his side of the story. They were at a boarding school together. Alex is the headmaster's son and expected a room of his own. Then Nigel moves in. He's obsessed with taxidermy and death. Doing experiments in their room. Alex hates him but is also drawn in by him. Doing things he wouldn't otherwise. It gets to be too much. But is it so much that murder is the only option. This movie was alright.
Sunday: Forbidden Fruits (2026)
Pumpkin gets a job at a clothing store in the mall. She soon discovers the other girls working there, Apple, Cherry, and Fig; are in a coven. Apple is the leader. She is harsh and controlling. They have strange practices. Pumpkin tries to work her way into the coven and disrupt it. Making Cherry and Fig question Apple and her control over them. It does not go well for any of them. I thought this movie was ok. Pretty weird, but has some interesting moments.

It is illegal for single people to have sex except for one night of the year. Which also makes it the least romantic night of the year. Allie isn't really into the whole thing. Still she needs to put herself out there, so she forces herself to go out. Owen's girlfriend decides she wants to sleep with someone else this year. Wanting to make sure she is certain about Owen. She encourages him to go out too. So he does his best to take part in the night. Allie and Owen had a rough start. They then go on to have a series of unfortunate events. They keeping bumping into each other throughout the night. At some point they take it as a sign that they might be meant for each other. This movie was alright. The whole concept is kinda stupid. It's a dystopian romantic comedy. Which is not a genre I think needs to continue. I get trying to be original and comes up with new ideas. It just doesn't work. If you ignore all the dystopian stuff there are some cute moments. Still not very good.
Saturday: Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender (2026)
Aang and his friends are grown up. They built a city were all benders and non benders are welcome. Aang spends his time finding relics of the Air benders. One day a group of non benders attack the Air temple to steal a map. The map was hidden in a relic of an ancient Avatar. Aang is not able to find her in the spirit realm. But he is told about her. In her time the Air tribe was under attack. She found a way to make a staff that would give her the ability to give anyone the power to air bend. That's what the map leads to. Aang and his friends must get to it first. Along the way he discovers there was another Air bender, Tagah. Tagah was also frozen. He was a disciple of the ancient Avatar. He agrees to help Aang find the staff. His intentions become more clear as the group make there way to the staff. I thought this movie was good. Some of it wasn't the best. But it was interesting. Fun to see things from the original TV show. As well as seeing everyone grown up.
Sunday: Lilies Not for Me (2024)
This takes place not long after WWI. Owen has been placed in a psychiatric hospital to "cure" his homosexuality. Part of his treatments is to go on fake dates with a female nurse. He tells her his story. Own is a writer who was living in the country. His friend Philipp comes to stay. They reveal their feelings for each other. Philipp says there is a cure. A risky surgery he wants Owen to perform on him and then he will do the same. It gets complicated fast. Ending with Owen in the hospital. This movie was ok. Tough to see what these men went through just for being who they were.
