Bob and the Recovery

Thursday: A Complete Unknown (2024)       This is based on a true story. Bob Dylan was only 19 when he came to NYC. He met Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie when Woody was in the hospital. They could both see he had a lot of talent as a folk singer. Pete took Bob under his wing. Bob started getting gigs and met Joan Baez. He also met a young woman named Sylvie who he hit it off with. As time went on his music became popular and he became famous. He hated the fame and all the expectations that came with it. Bob wanted his music to evolve and not be strictly folk anymore. Many people didn't like that. Especially other folk musicians like Pete. Bob didn't care and did it anyways. I thought this movie was good.  Friday: The Outrun (2024)      Rona is a young biology student. Her father's bipolar disorder and stresses of life drive her to alcohol. Pua and the Lost Boy

Wednesday: Mrs. Brown (1997)      This is based on a true story. After the death of her husband Queen Victoria went into grieving for three years. To try and help her with her grief she invited her husband's former servant John Brown to come to her palace. He is a no nonsense Scott. John is there to take her horse back riding. He doesn't talk to her like a queen. John is able to get her out of her grief. At least enough to start enjoying things again. They form a very close friendship. Not everyone is happy with their friendship. Her other servants believe he has too much power and too much say. Others believe they are romantically involved and that would  be scandalous for a queen. Even still their friendship lasts a long time. He helped her a lot. I thought this movie was alright. Chicken Parm and the Wicked Witch

The Saturday before Thanksgiving I went to a food truck called Mangiamo!. It is on N Lombard. There is street parking. It is part of a pod. There is plenty of seating. Some covered if I remember correctly. The cart is black with a small awning that has dangly lights hanging from it. Service was good. I got the chicken parmesan sandwich. It was good. It's the kind of sandwich that you have to eat with a fork first so you can actually take a bite. Also to be less messy.  The bread was really good. Soft and buttery. It looks like they have a good meatball sub too. I would go back but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there. Tuesday: Uproar (2023)       This movie takes place in the 80s in New Zealand. There was controversy surrounding the South Africa rugby team. A lot to do with the black South Africans being suppressed even though they were the majority. They were the target of racism in Africa. They were on tour playing teams all over. The ...
