Imposter Doctor and the Plastics

Monday: The Pod Generation (2023)      This movie is set in the not too distant future. There is a new way for couples to have babies. Instead of the woman carrying the baby, the baby will grow and develop in an artificial womb or pod. Mothers don't have to have any of the physical side affects of pregnancy or have it impact their careers. Rachel and Alvy are a young married couple. Alvy is a horticulturist. He still believes in doing things naturally and preserving nature. He is against the pods. Rachel is desperate for a baby. With her job she gets a discount on the pods as part of a promotion. She puts their name on a list without telling Alvy. They get in. Alvy is upset at first but gives in to the idea of having a baby in a pod. As they go through the process they start to realize maybe something is not right. I thought this movie was alright.  Tuesday: Crossroads (2002)       Three childhood friends buried a time capsule of sorts and promis...

Marley and the Band Reunion

Tuesday: Pollock (2000)       This is based on a true story. Jackson Pollock came onto the art scene in the early 40s. Despite a drinking problem he was able to make great art. Then he met another artist, Lee Krasner. She believed he was a great artist. Lee became his champion. She helped him meet the right people and get shows. They ended up falling in love and getting married. His drinking got in the way of his success. To get him away from temptation Lee and Pollock moved to the Hamptons. There he was able to do really great work. He became a famous artist. Yet he wasn't able to run away from all his demons. I thought this movie was alright. Wednesday: How to Build a Girl (2019)      Johanna is a teenage girl who doesn't fit in. She wants to be a writer. She learns of a contest to win a spot as a junior writer at a rock music magazine. Despite not knowing much about rock music she wins the contest. Johanna creates a persona that will fit in better ...

Art Curator and the Zombie Boyfriend

Tuesday: No Hard Feelings (2023)      Maddie is trying to save her late mother's house. She works as a bartender and drives for a drive share app. When her car gets taken for failed payments she is left without much needed income. Maddie hears of a family looking for a young woman to date their young son who is leaving for college in the fall. In return they will give her a car. Maddie gets the job. She does her best to get the son, Percy, to like her. He is shy and awkward. Percy doesn't understand what she is trying to do. They don't get what they thought they would out of the situation. I thought this movie was alright. I wasn't planning to see it because it looked too raunchy from the trailer. But my sister saw it and told me it wasn't that bad. There are some raunchy jokes but they down play them. It's somewhere between a romantic comedy and a raunchy comedy. It not committing to one or the other is why it's only alright. Thursday: Return to Me (2000) ...

Diamond Smuggler and the Spy Novel

Tuesday: Mississippi Burning (1988)      This movie is inspired by true events. Two FBI agents are sent to a small town in Mississippi to investigate the disappearance of three civil rights activists. From the moment they get there they are met with hostility. No one is willing to talk to them. No black person will talk to them for fear of being beaten up or worse by the klan. No white person will talk because they are protecting what they think is right. The more they investigate the more they realize how corrupt this small town is. I thought this movie was alright. It was such a horrible time. It's crazy how much klan members were protected by every level of the local government. They could do whatever they wanted. Friday: Argylle (2024)      Elly writes novels about spies and global spy syndicates. She is very successful. While on a train to visit her parents she meets a real life spy named Aiden. He tells her that her books are actually predicting...
