Art Curator and the Zombie Boyfriend

 Tuesday: No Hard Feelings (2023)

Maddie is trying to save her late mother's house. She works as a bartender and drives for a drive share app. When her car gets taken for failed payments she is left without much needed income. Maddie hears of a family looking for a young woman to date their young son who is leaving for college in the fall. In return they will give her a car. Maddie gets the job. She does her best to get the son, Percy, to like her. He is shy and awkward. Percy doesn't understand what she is trying to do. They don't get what they thought they would out of the situation. I thought this movie was alright. I wasn't planning to see it because it looked too raunchy from the trailer. But my sister saw it and told me it wasn't that bad. There are some raunchy jokes but they down play them. It's somewhere between a romantic comedy and a raunchy comedy. It not committing to one or the other is why it's only alright.

Thursday: Return to Me (2000)

Bob is an architect who's wife passes away. Grace has been waiting for a new heart for a long time. She doesn't have much time left. Then she get a heart, a heart that belonged to Bob's wife. After a grieving period Bob agrees to go out on a double date with his friend. They go to an Irish Italian restaurant run by Grace's grandfather. While there Bob and Grace, who works there, hit it off. He returns later and they end up going out. Neither of them knowing the rare connection they have. This movie was alright.

Friday: Lisa Frankenstein (2024)

An odd teenage girl named Lisa struggles to fit in. She is adjusting to a new school and living with her new step-mom and step-sister. Lisa likes to spend time in a small cemetery in the woods. There she has found the grave of a young man. She finds the bust on his grave handsome. After a freak storm a creature breaks into her house. It turns out to be the young man brought back to life. Lisa hides him in her room. She likes him although he can't talk. He is missing an ear and a hand. They end up finding him replacements and using her step-sister's malfunctioning tanning bed to bring the parts back to life. The young man becomes dangerous, but Lisa still cares for him. I thought this movie was alright. It's pretty campy and cheesy but still enjoyable. Robin William's daughter, Zelda, directed it. Which is pretty cool.

Sunday: Double Feature- The Longest Day (1962) and Upgraded (2024)

The Longest Day is based on true events. It takes place during WWII. It's about the events on D-day. The events are shown from the perspective of the French, German, and American sides. The Germans didn't believe the allied forces would invade on that day. The weather was not ideal. They also didn't expect them to invade Normandy. So they were unprepared. Still it was not an easy invasion for the allied forces. They faced many obstacles and had many casualties. This movie was ok. It was really long and a little boring. There are parts in German or French. But they don't have subtitles for everything they say. You sometimes only get once sentence out of all they say in subtitles. Almost like a silent film. Not sure why they would do that. The acting and script aren't the best.

Upgraded is about a young woman named Ana. She works for an art auction house. She dreams of opening her own art gallery. After impressing her boss she gets sent to London to help with an acquisition. On her flight over she is upgraded to first class. There she meets a young man named William. They hit it off. She lies and pretends to be her boss. Ana ends up getting a ride with William and his former model mother. His mom is very impressed by Ana. She invites Ana to a party and opens doors for her. It helps her impress her boss. But soon her lies catch up with her. I thought this movie was good. Not the best but still fun.

Travel Friends and the Logger's Life

Friday: No Other Choice (2025)         This is a Korean film. Man-su was let go after working at a paper factory for many years. He struggles to find a new job. Without his income his family has to start making cuts. It really starts to wear down on Man-su. There is a position at another paper factory. There are only a few men qualified for the job. Man-su realizes if he eliminates the competition he will get the job. So he eliminates them, permanently. I thought this movie was alright. Weird and violent. The acting is good. Saturday: Merrily We Roll Along (2025)          This is actually a broadway musical that they filmed. It shows the friendship of a lyricist, Frank, a playwright, Charley, and a writer, Mary. The plays starts in the mid 70s. Frank is a big shot in Hollywood. Mary comes to visit him after the success of his most recent movie. Their relationship is strained. He doesn't even talk to Charley anymore. From there the story...

Surprise Chorizo and the Floating Castle

Well after two months I was finally able to go to a restaurant on my list. I went to Tight Tacos, the SE Division location. There is neighborhood parking on the streets behind it, but you might have to drive around a little. It is a small restaurant next to other restaurants and shops. They were only open for take out but there were picnic tables you could sit at on the sidewalk. The tables were in the shade so it was nice on a warm day. From what I could see inside it was clean and modern. There is some color and hanging Christmas lights. The service was good. I got three tacos: chicken, carnitas, and asada. I think that I got chorizo instead of asada. It was actually the best one flavor wise. The carnitas meat was good but there wasn't a lot of flavor. I forgot to ask for no onions so I had to scrape them off. The tacos were good. I would go back. The one problem I had was they serve the food in takeout containers. And they have tables for you to sit ...

Wolf and the Fake Fiancee

Friday: You. Me & Tuscany (2026)        Anna is a young woman who lost her passion for cooking after her mother passed. She's been housesitting, but it's not enough. One night she meets and Italian man, Matteo. They hit it off and he tells her about his empty villa in Italy that he never uses. Anna takes this as an invitation to use her pre-paid plane ticket and fly to Italy and stay at his empty villa. She gets caught by his family. They assume she is his fiancee and she goes along with it. Anna is introduced to the rest of the family, including Matteo's adopted brother Michael. Michael and Anna immediately hit it off, but can't do anything because she is engaged to his brother. When Matteo shows up things get even more complicated. I thought this movie was alright. It's cute and nice to have a new romantic comedy come out in theaters . It's just a little cheesy and over the top for me. Almost like a Hallmark movie or the like.  Saturday: The Bad Guys...
