Cassandro and the Ambitious Student

Tuesday: Speed (1936)       Terry is a test driver for a car company. Jane is the new publicist for the company. She is immediately attracted to Terry. He's a great driver and is very knowledgable about cars. Terry is developing a new carburetor. He struggles to get it to work. Jane convinces him to work with an engineer. Unfortunately that engineer, Frank, is also attracted to Jane. Terry can't trust Frank. He doesn't know if Frank really wants to make the best car or just please Jane. Eventually they test the carburetor by entering in the Indy 500 and speed trials at Muroc Dry Lake. I thought this movie was alright. I mostly watched it because it's a James Stewart movie I haven't seen. Friday: Cassandro (2023)               This is based on a true story. Saul is a gay man who is an amateur wrestler.  He started out as a luchador with a mask. But then his new trainer convinces him to be an exotico character when he wrestles. E...

Puppy Grandparents and the Haunted Palazzo

Tuesday: Glengarry Glen Ross (1992)      The story centers around a real estate office in Brooklyn. This location is struggling to make sales. A big wig from the downtown office comes to reprimand them. He tells them that they have a month to get their sales up. Those with the lowest sales will be fired. The person with the most sales gets a cadillac. The men in the office aren't happy. They get the worst leads. People that have already been talked to several times and have no interest. The big wig had brought a stack of cards of great leads, leads that are new and a sure thing. But only the top seller can get them. Some of the men decide to steal the leads and sell them to another real estate office. It doesn't go as planned. I thought this movie was ok. It's a lot of men yelling at each other. Friday: 55 Steps (2017)      This is based on a true story. Eleanor is a schizophrenic patient at a mental health hospital. She is not being treated fairly. S...

Cake Barring and the Defector

Tuesday: I Confess (1953)       Father Logan is a young priest at a church in Quebec City. One night Otto, who lives in the church with his wife, returns late at night. He goes to confession and confesses to Father Logan that he has killed a man. The next day police start to investigate. They figure out Father Logan is involved somehow. He refuses to give any information he knows because it was told in confession. He won't break that rule. Soon the police start to suspect him. Father Logan did have some dealings with the dead man. But he is unable to clear his name and faces trial. I thought this movie was alright. It is an Alfred Hitchcock film.  Friday: My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 (2023)      Toula's father has passed away. One of his last wishes was to have his journal given to his three friends from his village in Greece. After receiving an invitation for a reunion in the village, Toula and her some of her family decide to go there to find his...

Sim Driver and the Portable Door

Tuesday: Bugsy (1991)     This is based on true story. Bugsy is a low level gangster. He is sent to Hollywood to broker a deal. Much of which hinges around a small casino in Las Vegas. Bugsy decides he likes LA. He wants to live there. He buys a house and a car and settles in. While spending time with an actor friend on set he meets Virginia. She is an actress and girlfriend to someone he works with. He doesn't care, he wants her. They start an affair that they don't bother to keep hidden. Bugsy starts to make moves. He alines himself with another gangster, Mickey Cohen. He gets the idea to redo the casino in Las Vegas and expand. It will become a major destination with other casinos, restaurants, hotels, and so on. No one really believes in his vision but still lend him the money. He goes over budget and starts to make enemies within his own gang. Things don't end well for him. I thought this movie was alright. I think I'll make it my unofficial goal to watch every mov...
