Cake Barring and the Defector

 Tuesday: I Confess (1953)

Father Logan is a young priest at a church in Quebec City. One night Otto, who lives in the church with his wife, returns late at night. He goes to confession and confesses to Father Logan that he has killed a man. The next day police start to investigate. They figure out Father Logan is involved somehow. He refuses to give any information he knows because it was told in confession. He won't break that rule. Soon the police start to suspect him. Father Logan did have some dealings with the dead man. But he is unable to clear his name and faces trial. I thought this movie was alright. It is an Alfred Hitchcock film.

Friday: My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 (2023)

Toula's father has passed away. One of his last wishes was to have his journal given to his three friends from his village in Greece. After receiving an invitation for a reunion in the village, Toula and her some of her family decide to go there to find his friends. Once there they meet Victory, who is their cousin and mayor of the village. Victory was the one who set up the reunion. While searching for the friends Toula discovers a family secret. This movie was alright.

Saturday: Sitting in Bars with Cake (2023)

Jane is studying to be a lawyer, but her true passion is baking. She is also shy and has a hard time meeting men. After celebrating her birthday in a bar, Corinne (Jane's best friend and roommate), has an idea. Jane will make 50 cakes and go to 50 different bars as a way to meet men. It soon becomes they highlight of their week. Then Corinne finds out she has cancer. Jane decides to be her caretaker as well as continues to go cake barring, as they call it. I thought this movie was good, sad but good. It's based on a cookbook written by the woman the character of Jane is based on. It tells her true life story.

Travel Friends and the Logger's Life

Friday: No Other Choice (2025)         This is a Korean film. Man-su was let go after working at a paper factory for many years. He struggles to find a new job. Without his income his family has to start making cuts. It really starts to wear down on Man-su. There is a position at another paper factory. There are only a few men qualified for the job. Man-su realizes if he eliminates the competition he will get the job. So he eliminates them, permanently. I thought this movie was alright. Weird and violent. The acting is good. Saturday: Merrily We Roll Along (2025)          This is actually a broadway musical that they filmed. It shows the friendship of a lyricist, Frank, a playwright, Charley, and a writer, Mary. The plays starts in the mid 70s. Frank is a big shot in Hollywood. Mary comes to visit him after the success of his most recent movie. Their relationship is strained. He doesn't even talk to Charley anymore. From there the story...

Surprise Chorizo and the Floating Castle

Well after two months I was finally able to go to a restaurant on my list. I went to Tight Tacos, the SE Division location. There is neighborhood parking on the streets behind it, but you might have to drive around a little. It is a small restaurant next to other restaurants and shops. They were only open for take out but there were picnic tables you could sit at on the sidewalk. The tables were in the shade so it was nice on a warm day. From what I could see inside it was clean and modern. There is some color and hanging Christmas lights. The service was good. I got three tacos: chicken, carnitas, and asada. I think that I got chorizo instead of asada. It was actually the best one flavor wise. The carnitas meat was good but there wasn't a lot of flavor. I forgot to ask for no onions so I had to scrape them off. The tacos were good. I would go back. The one problem I had was they serve the food in takeout containers. And they have tables for you to sit ...

Wolf and the Fake Fiancee

Friday: You. Me & Tuscany (2026)        Anna is a young woman who lost her passion for cooking after her mother passed. She's been housesitting, but it's not enough. One night she meets and Italian man, Matteo. They hit it off and he tells her about his empty villa in Italy that he never uses. Anna takes this as an invitation to use her pre-paid plane ticket and fly to Italy and stay at his empty villa. She gets caught by his family. They assume she is his fiancee and she goes along with it. Anna is introduced to the rest of the family, including Matteo's adopted brother Michael. Michael and Anna immediately hit it off, but can't do anything because she is engaged to his brother. When Matteo shows up things get even more complicated. I thought this movie was alright. It's cute and nice to have a new romantic comedy come out in theaters . It's just a little cheesy and over the top for me. Almost like a Hallmark movie or the like.  Saturday: The Bad Guys...
