Peter Parker and the Forgotten Murder

Tuesday: Suddenly, Last Summer (1959)         John is a surgeon at a mental hospital. He performs craniotomies on patients. A new case is brought before him. A young woman named Catherine was on vacation with her cousin. He died under mysterious circumstances. She can't remember anything and has a breakdown. Catherine is admitted to a smaller mental asylum. Her aunt wants her to get a craniotomy. John must find out more before he can decide to perform the surgery. I thought this was a good movie. Wednesday: Point Blank (1967)          After pulling a heist on Alcatraz, Walker is double crossed and left on the island. Once he is back in San Fransisco he must find his partner and get his money back. To do that he also has to take down the biggest organized crime syndicate in San Fransisco. This movie was alright. It goes between the past and present. Also you aren't sure if the events  actually happened or if it's a dream, so it's co...

Irene and the Mentalist

Monday: Torn Curtain (1966)          Michael is an American scientist. He defects to East Germany to help them build weapons. Really he is going undercover to see how far they've gotten in developing the technology. Then he has to make his escape. I thought this movie was good. It's a Hitchcock movie starring Paul Newman and Julie Andrews, you can't go wrong. Tuesday: Family Plot (1976)      Blanche and her boyfriend George are con artists. Blanche poses as a psychic and George feeds her information. They are hired to find a wealthy woman's missing nephew. While on their search they encounter a couple who kidnap people and ask for diamonds as the ransom. The two couples become intertwined in their cons. This movie was ok. Wednesday: The Trouble with Harry (1955)          Albert is hunting in the woods by his small town. He was trying to shoot a rabbit and thinks he accidentally shot and killed a man named Harry. Whil...

Cattle Rancher and the Cowardly Ghost

Monday: Time After Time (1979)            H.G. Wells has just finished building his time machine. Then Jack the Ripper steals it and travels to 1979. The machine returns to 1893 and H.G. chases the Ripper to 1979. He hopes to catch him and bring him back to their time to face justice. I though this movie was ok. Tuesday: The Canterville Ghost ( 1944)            Sir Simon de Canterville was supposed to fight in a duel for his brother, but he ran away. His father trapped him in his room in the castle to be punished for his cowardice. He died. Simon would only be able to move on if a descendant of his family performed a brave act. Fast forward to WWII and the castle is housing American soldiers. Simon fails to scare them away, which turns out to be a stroke of luck. This movie was alright. Wednesday: Joe Bell (2020)          This is based on a true story. Joe's son was harshly bullied for being gay. ...

Alfalfa Club and the Magic House

While in California visiting my parents for Thanksgiving we had lunch at the Pink Cabana. It is in Indian Wells. It's part of the Sands Hotel. There is good parking at least during the day. It is near the Nest which is very popular at night especially on the weekends. So it will be harder to find parking at night. The restaurant is close to the pool. I'm not going to describe the decor too much because I posted a photo of it on my Facebook page. Well my mom took the photo and I decided to include it. The decor is really cool. A very 40s/50s tropical feel. The only thing you can't see in the photo is pink velvet booths they have in the corners. The lunch menu is your typical pool food with a twist. I got the tennis club sandwich. Instead of being cut up into smaller sandwiches, it is just one big sandwich cut in half with and extra piece of bread in the middle. It had alfalfa sprouts, cucumber and dijon aioli along with the turkey and baco...
