Chaotic Good Uncle and the Power of Friendship

 Friday: Forgotten Island (2026)

Jo and Raissa are best friends living the Philipines. Jo is wild and obsessed with the fantasy world of Nakali. Raissa is incredibly smart, but also can be just as wild. They have a strong friendship. Raissa is going to college in the US. Jo struggles with this. She doesn't want to be apart from her best friend. The night before Raissa is going to leave they end up at the beach. A portal opens and they are sucked inside. They wake up on a island with strange creatures. They are in Nakali. The two friends have no idea how they got there. A whole day is missing from their memories. With the help of a dog man, Raww, they retrace their steps. The longer they are there the worse it will be for them. I thought this movie was really good. The story line and animation were good. Very unique and original. Really funny. It was cool to see them use anime styles in some scenes. I can't wait to watch it again.

His ways are unconventional. But he gets the kids to school on time and feeds them. He really cares for the kids and defends them. Slowly they comes to love him. This movie was good.

Sunday: The Love Hypothesis (2026)

Olive is grad student working on cancer research. She has a best friend, Anh, who is like family to her. She would do anything for Anh. Olive finds out that Anh likes Olive's crush and the crush feels the same about Anh. Anh would never do anything about it so as not to hurt Olive's feelings. Olive pretends to be dating a professor, Adam. She wants to show that it's ok for Anh to go out with the crush. Adam is known for being harsh and strict. He agrees to go along with the fake relationship because he also needs to appear to be in a relationship. What starts out a fake relationship changes to something else. I thought this movie was alright. Not the best but still enjoyable.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Friday: Primetime (2026)

This is inspired by true events. Set in 2006 this movie is about Chris Hansen and the making of the show To Catch a Predator. It is a reality TV show where they lure sexual predators to a fake house. They use actors pretending to be young teens or kids. Once there they let the predator know they are caught and then police arrest them. The show is doing well and moved to primetime. To keep the momentum they need to find bigger predators. Someone on Chris's team thinks they've found a big one. A public figure. They try to catch this guy. Meanwhile Chris's personal life is blowing up. This movie was alright. The acting is great. Robert Pattinson (Chris) is clearly having fun playing around. The way they filmed it was different. Almost like you where watching a show from 2006. I never watched the show. But it was interesting to be brought back to that time. I was in high school. So the music, the news, entertainment, and the razor cellphones were nostalgic.

Saturday: The Choral (2025)

Set during WWI this movie takes place in an English town. The choral society's members are being recruited to the war. Their numbers are dwindling. They have to find a new choral director. They end up hiring Dr. Guthrie. A gay man who spent time in Germany. Many don't approve of him, but he will get the job done. To fill their numbers they recruit teens and factory workers. They are able to come together to perform. It helps them deal with the horrible war going on. I thought this movie was alright.

After taking a fall Mrs. Palfrey is rescued by a young writer named Ludo. They become friends. He becomes more of a grandson to her than her own grandson. They keep each other company and make each other's lives better. I thought this movie was alright. Shoyu Ramen and the Baron

Friday I went to a place called Hapa Ramen.  It's on SE Gladstone. It actually has it's own parking lot. That being said there is only 5 or 6 spots. It's a small place. You order and then you find your table. I sat at the ramen bar. The decor is dark. Most of the walls and part of the bar is covered in dark wood panels. There are also shelves with lots of plants and Japanese decorations. It is also a whiskey bar. They even have pairings with the different menu items. I didn't get any. I ordered the Shoyu Ramen which has pork and a marinated egg. It was really good. But I forgot to ask for no onions, which ruined it a little for me. To be fair the menu didn't say it came with onions but I guess that's a common ingredient in ramen. The service was good.  I would go back for sure. I know it's a place my sister would like. Especially because she told me about it. Monday: Going Hollywood (1933)          Sylvia is a young teacher ...

Grogu and the Friendly Neighbor

Friday: Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026)         The Mandalorian (Mando) and Grogu are working for the New Republic. There are still many Imperial Warlords out there even if the Empire has fallen. Their new assignment is to find a warlord who is dangerous but not much is known about him. The Hutts have information on him. They will give it to Mando if he can rescue their nephew, Rotta. Rotta has been kidnapped and made to fight in nightly cage matches. Mando and Grogu set out to rescue him, but much more is at play than they knew. I thought this movie was good. It's a stand alone adventure. So if you haven't watched the tv series you'll be ok. Wish I had known that before I gave me parents (who went with me) a recap of all three seasons. Oh well. They still enjoyed it. Grogu is so cute. And that's all the matters. Saturday: WarGames (1983)          David is an intelligent teen who is great with computers. While trying to get ...
