Sheep and the Aquarium Cleaner

 Friday:  Mortal Kombat II (2026)

Shao Kahn is an evil warrior trying to take over all the realms. When Kitana was a young girl he took over her realm. Now as an adult she goes along with what he wants, but will never fully be on his side. He has his sights set on Earthrealm. A tournament will take place. Earth champions versus his champions. Earth is down one champion. The new chosen champion is Johnny Cage, a washed up action star. He is reluctant to join them, but has no choice. Earth's champions must fight to protect their planet. I thought this movie was ok. I should have skipped it. The acting and the story were not good. Some of the battles were entertaining. There are some funny moments. My only connection with the game this movie is based on is playing it at arcades. I always chose Kitana (mostly because she was one of the few female characters they had). So it was cool to see her in this movie.

Saturday: Remarkably Bright Creatures (2026)

This movie is told from the perspective of an octopus named Marcellus. Tova is a widow who works as the cleaner at the aquarium Marcellus is at. She has had a hard time. Losing her husband recently and her son not long before that. Marcellus is the only one she talks to. A young man, Cameron, comes to town in search of his dad. While there his car breaks down. Tova takes a fall and is out of work. Needing the money Cameron takes over her job at the aquarium. She doesn't stay away for long. Despite a rocky start they get along. Little do they know they have a greater connection. This movie was good. A little cheesy but still good.

Sunday: Giant Little Ones (2018)

Franky and Ballas are best friends. They are popular. After Franky's 17th birthday party they hook up. The next day they agree not to say anything about it. Then all of the sudden everyone knows and Ballas is blaming Franky. Franky is shut out of his social group and bullied. Ballas being his main bully. Franky finds solace in Natasha, Ballas's sister. She has also been shunned by others at the school. They try to be there for each other. I thought this movie was alright.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Thursday: And So it Goes (2014)

A grumpy and selfish realtor, Oren, has had some big life changes. After his wife died he was forced to put his house up for sale and move into an apartment. He doesn't get along with any of his neighbors including a lounge singer named Leah. One day his former addict son shows up with his daughter asking if Oren will watch her because he is going to prison for a short time. Oren initially refuses but there is no one else. Leah helps him take care of his granddaughter. Slowly he comes around and starts to really care for her. He also gets closer to Leah. This movie was alright.

Friday: The Sheep Detectives (2026)

George is a shepherd who lives near a small town in England. Every night he reads a murder mystery to his sheep. They love them. Lily can usually figure out who the killer is before the rest of the sheep. One morning Lily finds George dead in front of his trailer. They soon figure out it was murder. She doesn't think the idiot cop will be able to solve it on his own. So Lily and the other sheep work to solve his murder. I thought this movie was good. You wouldn't think a movie with talking sheep who try to solve a murder would work but it does. The writing was good.

Friday: No Other Choice (2025)         This is a Korean film. Man-su was let go after working at a paper factory for many years. He struggles to find a new job. Without his income his family has to start making cuts. It really starts to wear down on Man-su. There is a position at another paper factory. There are only a few men qualified for the job. Man-su realizes if he eliminates the competition he will get the job. So he eliminates them, permanently. I thought this movie was alright. Weird and violent. The acting is good. Saturday: Merrily We Roll Along (2025)          This is actually a broadway musical that they filmed. It shows the friendship of a lyricist, Frank, a playwright, Charley, and a writer, Mary. The plays starts in the mid 70s. Frank is a big shot in Hollywood. Mary comes to visit him after the success of his most recent movie. Their relationship is strained. He doesn't even talk to Charley anymore. From there the story...

Surprise Chorizo and the Floating Castle

Well after two months I was finally able to go to a restaurant on my list. I went to Tight Tacos, the SE Division location. There is neighborhood parking on the streets behind it, but you might have to drive around a little. It is a small restaurant next to other restaurants and shops. They were only open for take out but there were picnic tables you could sit at on the sidewalk. The tables were in the shade so it was nice on a warm day. From what I could see inside it was clean and modern. There is some color and hanging Christmas lights. The service was good. I got three tacos: chicken, carnitas, and asada. I think that I got chorizo instead of asada. It was actually the best one flavor wise. The carnitas meat was good but there wasn't a lot of flavor. I forgot to ask for no onions so I had to scrape them off. The tacos were good. I would go back. The one problem I had was they serve the food in takeout containers. And they have tables for you to sit ...

Young Ming-Na Wen and the Con Man's Apprentice

Monday: Two Tickets to Broadway (1951)        Nancy is the star of her small town. She wants to be on Broadway. On her way to New York City she meets three woman who's agent is unreliable. Once in the city she meets another Broadway hopeful, Dan. None of them are having luck getting work. The women's and Dan's agent, Lew, comes up with an idea. He will get Dan and the four women onto Bob Crosby's TV show. And he will get their friends at the local deli to put up the money for it. The group is excited. They start working hard to put together some routines. Only problem is they don't actually have a spot on the show yet. Lew hasn't even been able to talk to anyone from the show. I liked this movie. It is fun. Tuesday: Paper Moon (1973)         Addie is a young girl who's mother passed away. At the funeral she meets a man, Moses, who reluctantly agrees to take her to her aunt's house in another state. She thinks he could be her father. But he won't a...
