Friday: Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die (2026)
A man claiming to be from the future holds a crowded diner hostage. He is there to recruit people to help him on his mission. In the future AI has taken over and destroyed everything. It is starting at the time he goes back to. If they can plug in safe guards at the beginning then it will save the future. The people who end up going with him have started to see troubling signs. A teacher couple are run out of their school by teens under the control of their phones. A mother who lost her son in a school shooting discovers a horrible new program for parents like her. Along with the others they have to work together to stop the future events from happening. I though this movie was good. I was not expecting to like it as much as I did. It is very weird. It is like different episodes of the show Black Mirror that end up all coming together. It comments a lot on the current state of the world, and technology's place in it.
Saturday: I Love Trouble (1994)
Peter is a famous journalist for a Chicago newspaper. He gets assigned to a story about a train crash. While investigating he runs into Sabrina. She is a up and coming journalist for a competing Chicago newspaper. They get off to a bad start. They try to get the scoop before the other. The more they dig the more they see this wasn't just a simple train crash. Something more is happening. Peter and Sabrina end up teaming up to get to the bottom of it. They also fall for each other along the way. This movie was alright. It's a Nancy Meyers film. Not one of her best, but still fun.
Sunday: Kiss of the Spider Woman (1985)
Luis is a gay man in prison. He gets a new cellmate, Valentin. Valentin is a political prisoner who has been tortured for information. Luis likes to escape by telling the story of his favorite movies. One being about a singer who falls for a soldier. Valentin is annoyed by Luis at first, but finds the story a nice distraction. Although they still butt heads they start to become friends. Meanwhile the warden is still trying to get information from Valentin any way he can. I thought this movie was alright.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Thursday: How to Make a Killing (2026)

He was raised to fit into society. As an adult he is still waiting to inherit. Then an old crush comes back into his life. She gives him the idea of thinning the herd so he will for sure inherit. So he starts to kill off his family members. As he does his life starts to improve. He wonders if it is worth it to continue, especially as he has gained the attention of the FBI. This movie was alright.
Saturday: Hoppers (2026)
A college freshman. Mabel, is an animal lover who wants to protect the environment. The mayor is going to build an overpass right through a glade. It has special meaning for Mabel because it was somewhere her and her grandma would go together. She also wants to protect the animals that live there. Despite her best efforts the construction is happening. Then she learns of a new program at her college. They built animal robots that can be linked to a person's brain. So the person can control the robot as if it was their own body. As well as talk to and learn from the animals. Mabel hijacks the program and puts herself in a robot beaver. The animals believe she is a beaver. She wants to get them back to the glade to restore it and stop the overpass. Mabel tries to convince them to fight back. I thought this movie was good. It's cute and funny. Also the town they live in is called Beaverton. I saw online that some of the stars actually came to Beaverton, OR for an event. Which is pretty cool.
Sunday: The Secret Agent (2025)
This is a Brazilian film. Armando is a technology expert who has to go into hiding. He goes back to his hometown of Recife. Armando got a job at a ID center. While he tries to figure out his next steps he learns he's in more danger than he thought. He needs to get out of Brazil. This movie was alright. It's confusing. Jumping back and forth between story lines. It's not always clear what is past or present. I have now seen all the nominees for Best Picture. (Well except One Battle After Another. Which I know I won't like some I'm not going to see it.)
