Cabin 10 and the Toys R Us Hideaway

 Friday: The Smashing Machine (2025)

This is based on a true story. Mark Kerr is a mixed-martial arts fighter. He rises to fame in 1997. Mark went on a long wining streak. Many of his fights were in Japan. While dealing with pain he became addicted to opioids. This caused his career, and his already toxic relationship with his girlfriend, to suffer. He has to work hard to kick his addiction and get his career back. I thought this movie was alright. Dwayne Johnson is Mark. This is his first dramatic role. He proved he can pull it off. He just needs more practice.

Sunday: Dawn of the Dead (1978)

As the zombie apocalypse continues to escalate Francine, a TV executive, and her traffic reporter boyfriend escape in a helicopter. They are joined by two SWAT team members. The group takes refuge in a abandoned mall. It has all they need to survive and protect themselves. Even still they have to deal with the zombies and raiders. This movie was ok. It's a B low budget movie. Most of the zombies just have blue skin as a way to show they are zombies.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Thursday: Fireworks (2017)

Norimichi and his friends argue whether fireworks are round or flat. They plan to figure it out at the upcoming fireworks display. On the same day he finally talks to his crush, Nazuna. She had found a mysterious orb on the shoreline. After their encounter doesn't go how he wants he throws the orb and wishes he had done things differently. All of the sudden he goes back in time and is able to relive the day. He wants the day to be perfect and ends up going back again and again. I thought this movie was alright.

Friday: Roofman (2025)

This is based on a true story. It mostly takes place in 2004. Jeffrey struggled to make money after serving in the military. He comes up with the idea to rob McDonalds. Jeffery goes in through the roof, thus getting the nickname Roofman. He robs several before getting caught and sent to prison. Soon he breaks out of prison. Jeffrey ends up hiding in a Toys R Us. Somehow he leads a somewhat normal life. Joining a church and starting a relationship with a woman who works at the Toys R Us. There is only so long he can keep it up. This movie was alright. It's a crazy story.

Saturday: The Woman in Cabin 10 (2025)

Laura is a journalist who gets invited on a trip to Norway on board yacht owned by a wealthy couple. The wife of the couple is dying of cancer and her last wish is to travel on the yacht to the charity event they are holding. A variety of wealthy people are also invited. Laura encounters a mystery woman in cabin 10 on the first night. Later that night she hears a struggle and sees a woman thrown overboard. She believes it is the mystery woman. No one believes her. Especially because there was no one staying in cabin 10. Laura is convinced and tries to figure out what happened.  With little proof she starts to question her own sanity. I thought this movie was alright. A "whodunnit' is always entertaining.

Travel Friends and the Logger's Life

Friday: No Other Choice (2025)         This is a Korean film. Man-su was let go after working at a paper factory for many years. He struggles to find a new job. Without his income his family has to start making cuts. It really starts to wear down on Man-su. There is a position at another paper factory. There are only a few men qualified for the job. Man-su realizes if he eliminates the competition he will get the job. So he eliminates them, permanently. I thought this movie was alright. Weird and violent. The acting is good. Saturday: Merrily We Roll Along (2025)          This is actually a broadway musical that they filmed. It shows the friendship of a lyricist, Frank, a playwright, Charley, and a writer, Mary. The plays starts in the mid 70s. Frank is a big shot in Hollywood. Mary comes to visit him after the success of his most recent movie. Their relationship is strained. He doesn't even talk to Charley anymore. From there the story...

Surprise Chorizo and the Floating Castle

Well after two months I was finally able to go to a restaurant on my list. I went to Tight Tacos, the SE Division location. There is neighborhood parking on the streets behind it, but you might have to drive around a little. It is a small restaurant next to other restaurants and shops. They were only open for take out but there were picnic tables you could sit at on the sidewalk. The tables were in the shade so it was nice on a warm day. From what I could see inside it was clean and modern. There is some color and hanging Christmas lights. The service was good. I got three tacos: chicken, carnitas, and asada. I think that I got chorizo instead of asada. It was actually the best one flavor wise. The carnitas meat was good but there wasn't a lot of flavor. I forgot to ask for no onions so I had to scrape them off. The tacos were good. I would go back. The one problem I had was they serve the food in takeout containers. And they have tables for you to sit ...

King George III and the Abandoned Door

Friday: Fight or Flight (2025)       Lucas is a former secret service agent. He was stranded in Bangkok after a failed assignment. Later he receives a call from his ex who know works at a different agency. A target, only known as Ghost, is getting on a plane headed for the U.S. He is the only one close enough to get on the plane in time. Lucas has to find Ghost and bring them home. Soon he discovers the plane is filled with people wanting to kill both of them. Lucas has to protect Ghost. This movie was ok. Except for the two main actors, all the acting is bad. The writing is bad. It's like they thought they could just put in a bunch of swear words and not have to actually write dialogue. There are some fun moments. It's basically Bullet Train but on a plane. Just watch Bullet Train instead. Saturday: Suzume (2022)       Suzume is a teenage girl living in Japan. One day she meets a mysterious young man, Souta, who is looking for an abandoned place with...
