Robot Girlfriend and the Accountant

Friday: The Accountant 2 (2025)       The current Treasury chief, Marybeth, finds out the old chief was murdered. She's tries to see what he was working on, and what could have gotten him killed. Marybeth learns she may need the help of someone known as the Accountant. Chris, the Accountant, hears she is looking for him and gets in touch.  They work on the case of a missing family who crossed the Mexican border into the US. Since then no one has seen them. The more they dig the more complicated it gets. Chris calls in his brother Braxton. The three of them do their best to find the family and figure out what is really going on. I thought this movie was alright. It was better than I thought it would be. It's cool to have a super smart autistic action hero with a whole team of super smart autistic people helping him. Sunday: Companion (2025)         Iris goes with her boyfriend to a friend's cabin in the woods. They have a good time in the beg...

Selkie and the Twin Brothers

Friday: Sinners (2025)       This movie is set in the early 1930s. Two black twin brothers, Smoke and Stack, return home to Mississippi after running into trouble in Chicago. They plan to open a juke joint on some land they just bought. They plan to do it one day. Smoke reconnects with his wife hoping she will help cook. As well as getting food and help from the Asian grocers in town. Stack helps to gather the musical talent and spread the word of the opening. Their main attraction being their little cousin, Sammie, how has an amazing voice. That night it seems to be a success. Then some strangers arrive who want in. There is something off about them so they aren't allowed in. Turns out they are vampires. They slowly start turning people. Smoke, Stack, and the others have to try to survive the night. I thought this movie was good. It was really well done. Interesting to see vampires in the south during that time. The same actor, Michael B. Jordan, plays Smoke and St...

Private Concert and the List

Tuesday: One Life (2023)       This is based on a true story. Before WWII started a young British broker wanted to help the people of Czechoslovakia. It was being occupied by Nazis. Once there he saw how poorly the Jewish people were living. They were living in camps in the cold and the mud. He knew it was only going to get worse as the war was due to start any day. So he came up with a plan to get the children from these camps out of Czechoslovakia. Much later as an old man Nicky is trying to clear out all his documents from that time. He wants some of it to go to a museum. No one seems interested until he meets a wealthy woman. After hearing his story she gets him on a talk show. To his surprise one of the children he saved is there to meet him. Nicky meets more of them and finally gets the recognition he deserves. I thought this movie was good for the most part. Some of it didn't feel fully developed. Nicky helped save over 600 children. That's amazing. Friday: T...

Valentine Yuzu Cake and the Exiles

Tried selling some clothes at Buffalo Exchange near SE Hawthorne on Thursday. (Don't get how they choose what clothes to sell. It's vintage clothes so it should all work.) After that failed I realized a couple places on my list were nearby. I ended up going to Champagne Poetry Patisserie. There is neighborhood parking. It's a small shop. They sell Japanese and French pastries. Inside is very pink. One whole wall is decorated in fake pink roses with a neon rainbow angel wing sign. There is a giant pink KAWS sculpture in the front entry. I had to google what it was. Its cartoon looking with x's for eyes. There are cute velvet chairs at white marble tables. Other than that it is sparsely decorated. There are some very pretty French inspired desserts. In the shape of a mango, a dark blue rose, a heart. I knew I had to try one of those. So I got the Valentine cake. Which is a white chocolate strawberry yuzu cake. It's in the shape of a heart with a glittery red topp...
