Annoying Cousin and the Basketball Team

Wednesday: The Road Dance (2021)       Kirsty is a young woman who lives on the coast of Scotland. She dreams of leaving and going to the United States. She wants more than just being a farmer. Murdo, her boyfriend, comes home after training to fight in WWI. They talk and make plans to get married and move to the U.S. Then Murdo and all the young men from the village are called to fight in the war. The night before they leave tragedy strikes and Kirsty is raped by an unknown man. She has no idea if the man who did it is now off to war. Later she finds out she is pregnant. Kirsty does her best to hide it and figure out what to do next. The war brings loss and pain, but they must go on. I thought this movie was alright. She doesn't stay in a relationship if...

Pesto Pizza and the Guilty Juror

Saturday I went to Wild Child Pizza on NE Alberta. There is street parking. It is small. It's painted orange and black with a bold pattern on the orange. There is a small alley you go into and order at the window. There is no seating. At least not when I went. They make Detroit style pan pizza. I got two slices, pesto chicken and pepperoni. The pepperoni had a dollop of marinara on top. It was good but spicy. The pesto chicken had bacon and a ranch drizzle on top. It was SO good. There was no where else to sit and eat, so I ended up eating it in my car. The service was good. It seemed like a long time before I got my slices even though they were already cut. I realized this was to add the other ingredients on top and heat it up. I would go back tomorrow. I'll be dreaming about that pizza. Tuesday: Only You (1994)      When Faith was a teenager she learned from an ouija board and a fortune teller that her soulmate's name is Damon Bradley. Later when it is wee...

Black Cat and the Glam Rocker

Tuesday: Woman of the Hour (2024)       This is based on a true story. Set in the 70s, Sheryl is an aspiring actress in Hollywood. She books a gig as a contestant on The Dating Game . She hope it will give her exposure. She ends up picking Rodney Alcala. He seems like a great guy. Little does she know he is a serial killer. I thought this movie was alright. I had heard about him before on a podcast I listen to. It was interesting to see it from her point of view.  Thursday: The Black Cat (1934)       The movie, as the credits say, is suggested by the Edgar Allan Poe story. Peter and Joan are newlyweds on their honeymoon in Hungary. They ends up sharing a train compartment with a doctor named Vitus. They gets off at the same stop and take the same taxi bus. There is an accident. Luckily they are near Vitus's destination. The home of famed architect Hjalmar Poelzig. He reluctantly lets them in. Joan was hurt in the crash. While she is recovering Pe...
