Po and the Heroic Damsel

Tuesday: Mutiny on the Bounty (1935)

This is based on a true story. Fletcher and a crew of men are to sail under Captain Bligh. They are sailing from England to Tahiti. Captain Bligh is a harsh tyrant. The men suffer. They spend awhile in Tahiti. Then set sail for England. The men are fed up with Bligh, so led by Fletcher they stage a mutiny. Finally they are free of Bligh. Most return to Tahiti. But Bligh doesn't give up so easily. I thought this movie was alright. I feel like I've seen it before but couldn't be certain. I haven't written about it on this blog.

Wednesday: The Naked City (1948)

Jean, a young model, is found murdered in her apartment. Veteran detective Dan and rookie Jimmy are assigned the case. Clues lead them to a possible older man she was involved with. They are also lead to a friend of hers and a possible burglary ring. They don't know what Jean's involvement was. Dan and Jimmy must figure out how it all comes together. This movie was alright.

Friday:Kung Fu Panda 4 (2024)

Po is told he must step down as the Dragon Warrior. He will become the new Spiritual Leader. Po must find the next Dragon Warrior. After catching a thief named Zhen in the temple, he learns of an attack on a local mine.  Zhen knows who is behind the attack. It is a sorceress called The Chameleon who is bringing back all the master villains that Po sent to the spirit realm. She wants all their power and skills so she can rule over all the land. Po convinces Zhen to take him to the sorceress so he can try and stop her. I thought this movie was good. The Kung Fu Panda movies are always fun.

Saturday: 99 Homes (2014)

Dennis is a construction worker who is a single father living in his family home with his son and mother. They are struggling to keep the house. It is foreclosed on and they are evicted by police and a real estate broker. Dennis realizes some of his tools are missing. He goes to confront the crewman that work for the real estate broker. Dennis ends up agreeing to do a job for the broker. He ends up working for him and makes a lot of money. Soon he could get his house back. But he struggles to work for this man who is ruining lives for profit. This movie was alright.

Sunday: Damsel (2024)

In the past we learn that the king of Aurea had tried to take down a dragon that had attacked his village. Centuries later Elodie is the daughter of a lord. Her people are suffering. Her father makes a deal with the king and queen of Aurea. Elodie will marry their son and they will give her father enough money to save his people. Elodie agrees to do it. Then after the wedding she learns she is to be sacrificed to the dragon. A deal was made where every generation the dragon gets three of the kingdom's daughters. Elodie has to fight to escape from the dragon. I thought this movie was alright. It's pretty cheesy. A lot of it is her running away and stupidly screaming and groaning (leading the dragon right to her). But it is nice to see a damsel fighting back and becoming a hero.

Travel Friends and the Logger's Life

Friday: No Other Choice (2025)         This is a Korean film. Man-su was let go after working at a paper factory for many years. He struggles to find a new job. Without his income his family has to start making cuts. It really starts to wear down on Man-su. There is a position at another paper factory. There are only a few men qualified for the job. Man-su realizes if he eliminates the competition he will get the job. So he eliminates them, permanently. I thought this movie was alright. Weird and violent. The acting is good. Saturday: Merrily We Roll Along (2025)          This is actually a broadway musical that they filmed. It shows the friendship of a lyricist, Frank, a playwright, Charley, and a writer, Mary. The plays starts in the mid 70s. Frank is a big shot in Hollywood. Mary comes to visit him after the success of his most recent movie. Their relationship is strained. He doesn't even talk to Charley anymore. From there the story...

Wolf and the Fake Fiancee

Friday: You. Me & Tuscany (2026)        Anna is a young woman who lost her passion for cooking after her mother passed. She's been housesitting, but it's not enough. One night she meets and Italian man, Matteo. They hit it off and he tells her about his empty villa in Italy that he never uses. Anna takes this as an invitation to use her pre-paid plane ticket and fly to Italy and stay at his empty villa. She gets caught by his family. They assume she is his fiancee and she goes along with it. Anna is introduced to the rest of the family, including Matteo's adopted brother Michael. Michael and Anna immediately hit it off, but can't do anything because she is engaged to his brother. When Matteo shows up things get even more complicated. I thought this movie was alright. It's cute and nice to have a new romantic comedy come out in theaters . It's just a little cheesy and over the top for me. Almost like a Hallmark movie or the like.  Saturday: The Bad Guys...

Grogu and the Friendly Neighbor

Friday: Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026)         The Mandalorian (Mando) and Grogu are working for the New Republic. There are still many Imperial Warlords out there even if the Empire has fallen. Their new assignment is to find a warlord who is dangerous but not much is known about him. The Hutts have information on him. They will give it to Mando if he can rescue their nephew, Rotta. Rotta has been kidnapped and made to fight in nightly cage matches. Mando and Grogu set out to rescue him, but much more is at play than they knew. I thought this movie was good. It's a stand alone adventure. So if you haven't watched the tv series you'll be ok. Wish I had known that before I gave me parents (who went with me) a recap of all three seasons. Oh well. They still enjoyed it. Grogu is so cute. And that's all the matters. Saturday: WarGames (1983)          David is an intelligent teen who is great with computers. While trying to get ...
