Birdy and the Revolutionary Violinist

Tuesday: Summertime (1955)          Jane is a single middle aged woman finally going on her dream vacation. She has always wanted to go to Venice. Jane puts up a front that she is independent and confident. Really she is very lonely. On one of her first nights she meets a handsome Italian man. They continue to run into each other. Soon they fall hard for each other. All seems well. But the romance is doomed. He is married and she has to go home. I thought this movie was good. Katherine Hepburn is Jane. Wednesday: Anything's Possible (2022)          A confident black trans girl named Kelsa is in her senior year of high school. She has mostly been focused on school and her friends. Then she learns that the guy she has a crush on, Khal, likes her too. Unfortunately her friend, Em, likes him as well. After a mix up Em thinks Khal likes her and is about to ask her out. Instead he asks Kelsa out. This causes a rift between the two friend...

Renfield and the Bamboo Princess

Tuesday: Raising Arizona (1987)         H.I. is a criminal who favors robbing convenience stores. Over his multiple stays in prison he falls in love with a female cop named Ed. They end up getting married. Ed leaves the force. They decide to try for a baby. Soon they discover they are unable to have children. Ed is devastated. Later she hears on the news of a couple who had quintuplets. She comes up with the idea to take one of their babies. Surely they won't miss one. For a time they are able to live as a family of three. But soon complications arise that put it all in jeopardy. I thought this movie was alright. It's a screwball comedy which I don't always like. Kaylee has been searching for her. She discovers her sister was taken by sex traffickers.  There is...

Nike and the Old Clubhouse

Tuesday: Wendy and Lucy (2008)         Wendy is a young woman who is down on her luck. She is living in her car with her dog Lucy as they travel to Alaska. While in Oregon she encounters many problems. Her car brakes down. She leaves Lucy tied up outside a store and then gets caught shoplifting. When she is finally released her dog is gone. Wendy has to find Lucy and try and get her car fixed. This movie was ok. It's kinda slow. It was filmed in Oregon, so that's why I watched it. Wednesday: Da 5 Bloods (2020)         Four black vets return to Vietnam. They are there to find the remains of their fallen brother in arms. They are also looking for the case of gold they buried during the war. Being back in Vietnam brings back memories from the war. Tensions still run high. Not just for the four men but also for some of the Vietnam citizens they run into. What was supposed to be a simple rescue mission turns into a battle. I thought this movie wa...

Doric and the Hollywood Cover Up

Tuesday: The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969)            Jean is a teacher at an all girls school in Scotland. She has an unconventional way of living. Her teaching reflects that. She wants to shape her girls in her image. There is a group of girls that call themselves "Brodie's girls". They worship Jean and do anything they can to make her happy. Jean doesn't get along with the headmistress. Her unconventional ways soon cause problems for her as well as her girls. I thought this movie was alright. Maggie Smith plays Jean. She won an Oscar for her role. I thought she did a good job. It just wasn't that good of a movie. Wednesday: John Wick (2014)            An ex hitman named John has just lost his wife. He accidentally gets into an altercation with the son of a Russian gangster. The son breaks in to John's house, beats him up, kills his dog (a present from his late wife), and steals his car.  John soon seeks revenge...
