Tuesday: One Potato, Two Potato (1964)
Julie is a white woman who's husband left her and her daughter. When he didn't return she got a divorce. Some years later she met a kind black man named Frank. Their relationship starts off slow. They are friends first before they start having feelings for each other. Frank and Julie fall in love and get married. Julie and her daughter go to live with Frank at his parent's house. His parents are resistant to his marriage at first, but they come around. Then Julie's ex-husband, Joe, shows up. He want to spend time with his daughter. When he realizes that her step dad is black he is outraged. Joe doesn't want his daughter raised by black people. So he sues Julie for full custody. This movie does not have a happy ending. I thought this movie was ok. It's an important topic from the time when interracial marriage was still considered a major problem. It's just the acting is not very good. The actors who played Julie and Frank are almost expressionless for the whole movie. Even when very dramatic things are happening they don't seem to react. It's almost wooden. Loving is a much better movie on the subject.
Wednesday: The Thirteenth Chair (1937)

I thought this movie was entertaining.

He was involved in some controversy the year before when his girlfriend left him for the school director. Cooper is not looking for a relationship. Jody has to work extra hard to stay in the school. Eva has to change her attitude. I thought this movie was alright. It is a fun romantic comedy.

Tobias is a young American plane pilot. He is flying a plane from Berlin to Paris. Not long after they are in the air they are attacked by terrorists on the plane. Tobias and the Captain do their best to hold off the terrorists. They get them out of the cockpit. Both men are injured from the fight. The Captain dies. Tobias has to keep control over the plane. He can't give into the terrorists. This movie is ok. Most of the movie takes place in the cockpit of the plane. We see things on screens but other than that it is just the cockpit. It's unique to shoot an action film in such a small space.
