I found the next restaurant on my way to the CineMagic theater when I was volunteering for PIFF. I drove by it and thought it looked cool. It is a Venezuelan place called Teote. It is on SE 12th Ave. It is the kind of place where you order than find a table. There are some tables when you walk in but most are upstairs. There are latin america decorations. It also has the feel of a place that would be by the beach. There is a large indoor dining area. Also there is a big outdoor patio area, which is were we sat. It has a tin shed feel. There is a metal and clear plastic roof. The tables are picnic bench style. So you will probably end up sharing your table with someone. There is a fire pit in the center with blue rocks instead of wood or coal. Parts of the wall are made of doors. I got the smoky pollo arepas. I have wanted to try arepas for a while. Not going to lie it is because I saw them on Jane the Virgin and they looked so good. What I got wasn't what I expected though. I thought they were like a sandwich kind of thing. Mine came in a bowl with the arepas (a sort of cornbread) on the side. I just put the meat on top. The meat was really good. The arepas themselves were ok. They were a little dry and not very flavorful. The service was ok. I would go back. On a side note I also went to Cold Milk at Bridgeport and got the donut ice cream sandwich with their cookie monster ice cream. It was really good. The donut is very thin and a good size.
Monday: Inherit the Wind (1960)
This movie is about a teacher named Bert who is teaching about evolution in a town where that is against the law. He is arrested and will stand trail. The city hires former presidential candidate Matthew Brady as their lawyer. A reporter named Hornbeck comes to cover the trail. His paper hires a lawyer for Bert named Henry. Bert is also engaged to the daughter of the town priest which makes things even more complicated. The priest is leading the charge against Bert. Henry believes this town is backwards and that they have not right to stop a man from thinking and teaching a different view on the creation of life. He also finds is hard to fight against all the ignorance. Every aspect of the trail is being controlled by the views of the town. He can't pick any jurors. All his witnesses are turned down. Brady is very charismatic, and has the town and judge on his side so he is winning. Henry must find a way to win the trail for Bert. I liked this movie. Spencer Tracy played Henry and Gene Kelly played Hornbeck. They both did a good job. It was interesting to see Gene Kelly in a movie that is not a musical. And playing a character that is not nice or charming.
