Friday: Regretting You (2025)
Morgan was a teenage mother who married her high school boyfriend, Chris. Her daughter, Clara, is now in high school. Morgan's sister, Jenny, is dating and recently had a baby with her high school boyfriend, Jonah. Then one day Chris and Jenny die in a car crash. They were in the same car. Jonah is suspicious of why they were in the same car. Morgan is in denial. Clara is also struggling with her grief after losing her dad and aunt. At the same time she starts to date a boy named Miller. Who helps her in her grief but is also a way to get back at her mom. I thought this movie was alright. Kinda cheesy and soap opera like. Just over the top. The annoying and loud teens in the theater audience did not help either.
Sunday: Frankensein (2025)
This adaptation follows the story with some minor changes. Victor Frankenstein is found on the ice near the Arctic by a boat team. He is running from the Creature. Victor tells his story to the captain. After losing his mother he became obsessed with death. He was finding ways to reanimate dead bodies. His brother, William, comes back into his life along with William's fiance Elizabeth. Elizabeth's uncle wants to fund Victor's efforts. Victor's main goal is to build a man out of parts from different dead bodies. He is successful. But doesn't know what to do with the Creature. Complications arise and both are seeking revenge on each other. This movie is good. Definitely more gory than other adaptations but not too bad. The sets and the world built by Guillermo del Toro (the director and writer) is amazing. Lots of gothic beauty.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Friday: Now You See Me: Now You Don't (2025)
The four horsemen have broken up. A new group of magicians are on the rise. Bosco is the front man. June and Charlie are behind the scenes. One day Atlas shows up at their place. The Eye has contacted him with a new mission. It has to involve this new group. The mission is to steal a famous diamond from corrupt company known for it's dealings with criminals and war lords. They have to figure out how to steal the diamond and bring down the company. All the horsemen join them along the way. This movie was alright. It was a 50/50 chance if the scene was going to be good or not. Sometimes from line to line. Just not very well done.
Saturday: Hedda (2025)
Hedda is throwing a big party for her husband at their new house. They have only been back from their honeymoon for a short time. Her husband is up for a professorship at the university. This party is very important for him. Hedda does her best, but is wild and impulsive. Having affairs and sudden mood swings. Her former lover, Eileen, is due to make a surprise appearance at the party. Hedda is not happy to find out Eileen's current lover is also at the party. On top of that Eileen is up for the same professorship that her husband is. The party grows wild and soon goes off the rails. This movie is good. Very well acted.
Sunday:What's Cooking? (2000)
Four diverse families are getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner. The Nguyen family owns a video rental store. The parents are worried about their kids. The youngest son got suspended from school, the daughter is dating someone they don't know, and the oldest son is not coming home for the holiday. The Seeling family continue to struggle with their daughter being a lesbian and bring her girlfriend with her. The Avila family is dealing with a recent divorce and it's affects on the family. The Williams family has a son who is in trouble and not following the path they want. As well as a overbearing mother-in-law. I thought this movie was good. Rare to find a Thanksgiving movie.
