TSA Agent and the Wartime Photographer

 Wednesday: Gloria (1980)

Gloria is a tough woman with ties to the mob. She is doing her best to distance herself from them. Then one day her neighbors are targets for gangsters. They intrust her with their son, Phil, and an important book. The gangsters are desperate for the information in the book. Phil's family are killed. Gloria and Phil go on the run. They do their best to stay hidden. Gloria wants nothing to do with it and tries to ditch the boy. Yet she knows he has no one else. I thought this movie was alright.

Friday: Lee (2024)

This is based on a true story. Lee was a fashion model who became a photographer. She was able to get a job at the British Vogue. When WWII started she became a war correspondent for them. Lee didn't feel like she was doing her part just being in London. So she worked out a way to go to the war zones. Her photographs  were some of the best that actually captured what it was like. Especially in the concentration camps. This movie was good. It was interesting to see what led up to the photos she took. They recreated the photos almost exactly.

Saturday: Kraven the Hunter (2024)

Kraven is the eldest son of a crime boss. While on a hunting trip in Africa he is attacked by a lion. To save his life a girl gives him a potion that saves him. It also gives him powers. He has super strength, agility, and can control animals. Kraven is done living with his tyrannical father. He runs off to Russia and lives there. He develops his skills. His goal is to take out people like his father. Then while visiting, his brother is kidnapped by a rival crime boss. This crime boss, who goes by the name Rhino, wants to take over as many crime syndicates as he can. Kraven has to save his brother and stop Rhino. I thought this movie was ok boarding on bad. A lot of the acting was bad. The script wasn't great and  characters weren't developed. The way Kraven moves like an animal just didn't look right. And Rhino looked weird. It wasn't as bad as Madame Web, but almost. I don't know why they struggle to make these Spiderman spinoff movies. Although it sounds like they aren't planning on making anymore. With the new deal with Disney/Marvel possibly taking ownership of Spiderman.

Sunday: Carry-On (2024)

A TSA agent, Ethan, goes to work at LAX with his girlfriend on Christmas Eve. He gets his boss to give him a chance working the x-ray machine (scanner?). Then he finds an earpiece left behind. He gets a text telling him to put it in. When he does a voice tells him to do what they say or his girlfriend will be killed. The voice tells him that a suitcase will come through his line line. All he has to do is let it go through. Ethan, an almost cop, knows whatever is going to come through is dangerous. He has to figure out a way to stop what is happening without getting his girlfriend, or anyone else, killed. This movie was good. A bit like Die Hard. Makes you a bit more understanding of airport security measures.

Surprise Chorizo and the Floating Castle

Well after two months I was finally able to go to a restaurant on my list. I went to Tight Tacos, the SE Division location. There is neighborhood parking on the streets behind it, but you might have to drive around a little. It is a small restaurant next to other restaurants and shops. They were only open for take out but there were picnic tables you could sit at on the sidewalk. The tables were in the shade so it was nice on a warm day. From what I could see inside it was clean and modern. There is some color and hanging Christmas lights. The service was good. I got three tacos: chicken, carnitas, and asada. I think that I got chorizo instead of asada. It was actually the best one flavor wise. The carnitas meat was good but there wasn't a lot of flavor. I forgot to ask for no onions so I had to scrape them off. The tacos were good. I would go back. The one problem I had was they serve the food in takeout containers. And they have tables for you to sit ...

He will get Dan and the four women onto Bob Crosby's TV show. And he will get their friends at the local deli to put up the money for it. The group is excited. They start working hard to put together some routines. Only problem is they don't actually have a spot on the show yet. Lew hasn't even been able to talk to anyone from the show. I liked this movie.
