Pua and the Lost Boy

 Wednesday: Mrs. Brown (1997)

This is based on a true story. After the death of her husband Queen Victoria went into grieving for three years. To try and help her with her grief she invited her husband's former servant John Brown to come to her palace. He is a no nonsense Scott. John is there to take her horse back riding. He doesn't talk to her like a queen. John is able to get her out of her grief. At least enough to start enjoying things again. They form a very close friendship. Not everyone is happy with their friendship. Her other servants believe he has too much power and too much say. Others believe they are romantically involved and that would  be scandalous for a queen. Even still their friendship lasts a long time. He helped her a lot. I thought this movie was alright.

Friday: Moana 2 (2024)

Moana is doing her best to find new islands and connect with the people who live there. She is having little success. Then she gets a vision from her wayfinder ancestors. They tell her about an island that was sunk by a god. If it can be raised and she gets on it then all the pathways will open up. The ocean will be reconnected to all the other lands. So Moana gathers a crew and sets off to find this island. Hopefully finding Maui on the way so they can work together to raise the island. This movie was alright. It's not as good as the first one. I read somewhere that it was going to be a TV show and then they decided to just turn it into a movie. It feels more like a TV show. The story just isn't all there and the side characters aren't developed enough. It's still cute though and has good moments.

Saturday: Blitz (2024)

This movie is set in London during the blitz in WWII. George is a young biracial boy living with his mom in London. He never knew his father, who is black. His mom has to make the hard decision to send him to the countryside. George is mad at her and doesn't want to go. After only an hour on the train he jumps off and heads back to London. On the way see all the horrors his mother was trying to protect him from. He meets good people who help him and bad people who take advantage of him. George has to do his best to survive and get back to his mom. This movie is good. It's an epic story. This boy goes through so much just trying to get home. I saw in an interview that it was inspired by a photo of a little black boy during that time.

Sunday: The Devil at 4 O'Clock (1961)

Three convicts on their way to a prison on Tahiti are forced to spend the night on a nearby island. There they meet a fallen priest, Father Doonan. He recruits them to help him at the children's leper colony on the hill. Father Doonan is responsible for building the colony and getting treatment for the children. After they get back to town the volcano on the island erupts. Desperate to save the children Father Doonan tries to get people to help him get the children and bring them to be evacuated. No one will help except the convicts. Along with the Father they struggle to save the children. This movie was alright.

Surprise Chorizo and the Floating Castle

Well after two months I was finally able to go to a restaurant on my list. I went to Tight Tacos, the SE Division location. There is neighborhood parking on the streets behind it, but you might have to drive around a little. It is a small restaurant next to other restaurants and shops. They were only open for take out but there were picnic tables you could sit at on the sidewalk. The tables were in the shade so it was nice on a warm day. From what I could see inside it was clean and modern. There is some color and hanging Christmas lights. The service was good. I got three tacos: chicken, carnitas, and asada. I think that I got chorizo instead of asada. It was actually the best one flavor wise. The carnitas meat was good but there wasn't a lot of flavor. I forgot to ask for no onions so I had to scrape them off. The tacos were good. I would go back. The one problem I had was they serve the food in takeout containers. And they have tables for you to sit ...

He will get Dan and the four women onto Bob Crosby's TV show. And he will get their friends at the local deli to put up the money for it. The group is excited. They start working hard to put together some routines. Only problem is they don't actually have a spot on the show yet. Lew hasn't even been able to talk to anyone from the show. I liked this movie.
