Honey Feta and the Super Minions

I was able to go to three places on my list last Monday. I went with one of my best friends and her fiance. We started out by playing mini golf at Wonderwood Mini Golf. It's in the St. John's neighborhood. There is also a coffee shop and restaurant next door that is connected to it. All the art work is done by the same guy. It's a very unique cartoon style. The mini golf course is small, only 9 holes. Each hole is a different theme with his artwork. The holes themselves are different. One hole is on a disc under the green that rotates. Another is cheese themed so there are several holes. If you look in them some have wooden planks blocking the ball from going through saying things like "nope" or "wrong". There is a very small one that has the tee on top of a wooden box. You have to stand on a stool to try and hit it. It then goes through small wooden posts, then down to a narrow strip to the hole. As you play you can search for a different bug at each hole. If you find them all you get a sticker. It was a lot of fun. Very unique.

For dinner we went to Zeus Kusina which is close to the mini golf. Also should note there is neighborhood parking. The restaurant is on N Ivanhoe. It's small. It has a outdoor patio with TVs. Which is the first clue that it is very much a sports bar/restaurant. Inside there are more TVs all playing soccer. Each chair is a different jersey name and number of famous soccer players. The walls are planks of wood in a grey washed with patches of blue. It's pretty modern looking. When we got there we were the only ones in there. And in all the time we were there only one other couple came. To be fair it was a Monday and off the main road. We shared an appetizer with pita bread and 4 different dips (black truffle hummus, melitzanosalata (eggplant dip), honey feta dip and tzatziki). The honey feta was really good. I got a pork sovlakie wrap. It was good but the meat was a little chewy. It also came with a small salad and potatoes. The potatoes were really good. The service was great. I'd go back.

After that we went to Cheese and Crack Snack Shop. It's on SE 28th with neighborhood parking. They have cheese and cracker plates as well as ice cream. My friend got a soft serve chocolate dust cone with a small chocolate cowboy hat on top. Her fiance got the mud sundae which has bit's of their everything cookie. Cookie has: olive oil, chocolate chips, oats, coconut, dried cranberries, black sesame seed, birthday sprinkles, and sea salt. All in one cookie. Gross. He liked it for the most part. I got the cheese and crack sundae. It has chocolate ganache, cinnamon butter cracker crumble, vanilla soft serve, and a toasted marshmallow on top. It was really good. I would definitely go back.

Friday: Despicable Me 4 (2024)

Gru goes to his high school reunion uncover for the AVL. He is there to arrest Maxime. Maxime is arrested but soon breaks out and threatens to come after Gru and his family (which now includes baby Gru Jr.). So Gru and his family go to a safe house in a rich town. They have to take on different identities and try to fit in. While they are there most of the minions are at AVL headquarters getting trained.  Five are given superpowers. The family does their best, but it's only a matter of time before Maxime finds them. I thought this movie was good.

Saturday: Fancy Dance (2024)

Jax is a Native American woman living on a reservation with her sister and niece. She has had a criminal past. But she's trying to do better. Jax's sister has gone missing. She's doing her best to take care of her niece, Roki, and find her sister. Her father and his new wife (who are both white) believe that Roki should live with them. That Jax is not a good influence. So they get guardianship of Roki and take her away. Jax later rescues Roki and they travel to the powwow where they think her sister might be. This movie was alright.

Sunday: From Beyond the Grave (1974)

This is an anthology series movie centered around an antique shop run by a spooky shop owner.  Dishonest customers come in and end up with cursed items. A mirror that forces the owner to kill sacrifices for it. A military medal that leads a man to meet a peddler and his daughter who use voodoo to kill. A snuff box that has a creature that wants to possess the owner. And an ornate door that leads to a haunted room that needs souls. I thought this movie was ok.

Surprise Chorizo and the Floating Castle

Well after two months I was finally able to go to a restaurant on my list. I went to Tight Tacos, the SE Division location. There is neighborhood parking on the streets behind it, but you might have to drive around a little. It is a small restaurant next to other restaurants and shops. They were only open for take out but there were picnic tables you could sit at on the sidewalk. The tables were in the shade so it was nice on a warm day. From what I could see inside it was clean and modern. There is some color and hanging Christmas lights. The service was good. I got three tacos: chicken, carnitas, and asada. I think that I got chorizo instead of asada. It was actually the best one flavor wise. The carnitas meat was good but there wasn't a lot of flavor. I forgot to ask for no onions so I had to scrape them off. The tacos were good. I would go back. The one problem I had was they serve the food in takeout containers. And they have tables for you to sit ...
