Artistic Mechanic and the Racing Dog

Tuesday: Sayonara (1957)

Lloyd is a major in the air force. He is reassigned to Kobe, Japan. Many men stationed there are marrying Japanese women. Lloyd doesn't believe it is right. Most agree with him. Then one of his friends, Joe, says he is going to marry a Japanese woman. Lloyd tries to talk him out of it. But Joe refuses to give in. Lloyd ends up going to the wedding. His opinion starts to change. Later he sees a performance at a theater and falls for the lead performer. She is stubborn and doesn't take an interest in him at first. Soon she can't resist him any longer. They have to hide their relationship. Tensions grow between Americans and the Japanese. Neither side wants biracial couples. I thought this movie was alright. Pretty provocative for the time. The actress who played Joe's wife was the first Asian woman to win an Oscar for her role in this movie.

Friday: Arthur the King (2024)

He can't give it up until he's won. So he forms a team and enters the race taking place in Dominican Republic. Not too long after starting the race Michael encounters a straw dog. He feels drawn to the dog and feeds him. Much later in the race he encounters the dog again. His team have no idea how a dog could have traveled that far. Michael ends up naming him Arthur and he races with the team. They face many obstacles but are determined to win. This movie was alright.

Saturday: The End We Start From (2023)
A young English woman is living in London with her boyfriend. They are pregnant with their first baby. On the day she goes into labor London and the surrounding area is hit with a massive flood. It is devastating leaving many homeless and scrambling for shelter. After giving birth they have to leave, but have no home to go to. Her boyfriend's parents live in a town with a higher elevation. So they go there. But it only lasts for a short time. They go to a shelter but they will only take one parent with the child so they are separated. She must protect her baby and keep them both alive. I thought this movie was alright. One of the main reasons I watched it was because Benedict Cumberbatch was in it, even though I knew it was a very small role. The actress who plays the main woman is also a very good actress.

Surprise Chorizo and the Floating Castle

Well after two months I was finally able to go to a restaurant on my list. I went to Tight Tacos, the SE Division location. There is neighborhood parking on the streets behind it, but you might have to drive around a little. It is a small restaurant next to other restaurants and shops. They were only open for take out but there were picnic tables you could sit at on the sidewalk. The tables were in the shade so it was nice on a warm day. From what I could see inside it was clean and modern. There is some color and hanging Christmas lights. The service was good. I got three tacos: chicken, carnitas, and asada. I think that I got chorizo instead of asada. It was actually the best one flavor wise. The carnitas meat was good but there wasn't a lot of flavor. I forgot to ask for no onions so I had to scrape them off. The tacos were good. I would go back. The one problem I had was they serve the food in takeout containers. And they have tables for you to sit ...

They start working hard to put together some routines. Only problem is they don't actually have a spot on the show yet. Lew hasn't even been able to talk to anyone from the show. I liked this movie. It is fun. Tuesday: Paper Moon (1973)         Addie is a young girl who's mother passed away.
