Springdale Eats and the Time Traveling Final Girl

Like when I went to Sedona, here is a short review of places I ate at in Springdale, Utah.

Whiptail Grill- This is a Mexican restaurant in what used to be a gas station. The decor is simple. An art piece of license plates and a giant Texaco sign. I got some good enchiladas. My mom got shrimp tacos several times over the trip. She said the ones she got at Whiptail where the best.

Bit & Spir- It is a Mexican fusion restaurant. It is very colorful. There are lots of big paintings inside. There is lots of outside seating. Some on the deck, but most is in the back on the lawn. There are colorful lights hung across the back area. They look like solo cups, but they could be cans. It looks nice. It was loud inside where we sat. I got the rosemarino pasta with a rosemary cream sauce. There was also good rosemary garlic bread. Overall it was good. I just wasn't the biggest fan of the sun dried tomatoes in the pasta.

Pig's Ear American Bistro- We ate here on our way back from Bryce Canyon. It is actually in Hurricane, which is about thirty minutes from Springdale. Again the decor is simple. There was some fun pumpkins for Halloween. It was loud. I had a really good burger with roasted tomato and candied pepper bacon. The fries were also really good. This was my favorite meal of the trip.

Porter's- In the same building as Bumbleberry. Which is a general store/gift shop, bakery, ice creamery, and theater. Porter's is a modern diner. There is art for sale on the walls, mostly of Zion. I got a Turkey Bacon Avocado sandwich. It was alright.

Spotted Dog- We ate here on our last night. It's part of a hotel. It's small with a cabin like feel. The walls are decorated with painting and photographs of landscapes. It was loud. I got boneless short ribs that came with fingerling potatoes, spaghetti squash, and green chickpeas. The short ribs were good but chewy. The best part was the spaghetti squash.

Also I got ice cream at Bumbleberry and Hoodoos General store. The ice cream from Hoodoos was the best.

Tuesday: The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (1966)

Luther is a typesetter for his small town newspaper. He dreams of being a real reporter. Luther encounters some strange events near the Simmons mansion. It is the 20 year anniversary of a famous murder-suicide that happened there. There are rumors it's haunted. Local interest has grown because the heir to the mansion has returned to town wanting to sell it. Luther is challenged to stay the night in the mansion and write about it. He has a wild night. After Luther recounts his tale the heir sues him for libel. Luther has to prove he wasn't making it up. I thought this movie was ok.

Friday: The Creator (2023)

A war is ongoing between humans and AI robots. The robots had bombed LA causing devastation. Joshua is a former agent. He spent a long time undercover trying to find the creator of the AI robots. Later the government wants him to come with them on a mission. There is a new AI weapon that is very powerful that they want to wipe out. They wants Joshua's help to find it. Joshua does find it. It is a robot in the form of a little girl. He is conflicted on what to do. This movie is alright.

Surprise Chorizo and the Floating Castle

Well after two months I was finally able to go to a restaurant on my list. I went to Tight Tacos, the SE Division location. There is neighborhood parking on the streets behind it, but you might have to drive around a little. It is a small restaurant next to other restaurants and shops. They were only open for take out but there were picnic tables you could sit at on the sidewalk. The tables were in the shade so it was nice on a warm day. From what I could see inside it was clean and modern. There is some color and hanging Christmas lights. The service was good. I got three tacos: chicken, carnitas, and asada. I think that I got chorizo instead of asada. It was actually the best one flavor wise. The carnitas meat was good but there wasn't a lot of flavor. I forgot to ask for no onions so I had to scrape them off. The tacos were good. I would go back. The one problem I had was they serve the food in takeout containers. And they have tables for you to sit ...
