Penelope and the Basketball Scholarship

 Tuesday: Penelope (1966)

Penelope dresses up as an old woman and robs her husband's bank. Later she confesses this to her therapist, Gregory. She doesn't need the money, she's just bored. Her husband doesn't pay attention to her any more. Gregory wants to delve deeper into this. He learns she has stolen before. Always out of impulse and to feel better. Gregory wants to help her stop stealing. All the while the police are trying to figure out who robbed the bank. I thought this movie was alright. It's fun.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Friday: Blue Beetle (2023)

Jaime comes home from college to see that his family is in trouble. They are about to lose their house and his dad had to close his business. Jaime struggles to keep a job that will help save the house. Then he meets Jenny. She promises to give him a job. She is the daughter of a rich inventor who owned a major company. After he passed it went to his sister, Victoria. Victoria wants to manufacture weapons. She has found a blue scarab that has special powers. Victoria wants to use it to make super soldiers. Jenny doesn't want her father's company to make weapons so she steals the scarab and puts it in a box.  She runs into Jaime and asks him to hide the box and not to open it. Of course he does and the scarab attaches itself to him. He suddenly has a super suit and powers. Jaime has to figure out how to control his new powers and stop Victoria from getting it. This movie was alright. It's great to have a latino superhero. But this movie just wasn't very well done. It was a little over the top and cheesy. The acting wasn't great, or maybe it was the writing. It's too bad it wasn't done better. DC movies are a hit or miss, with more misses than wins lately.

Saturday: Somewhere in Queens (2022)

Leo lives with his family in Queens. He works for his father's construction business. Leo is insecure and a bit of a push over. His son, nicknamed Sticks, is the same. The only place Sticks has any confidence is on the basketball court. He is a great player. After the last game of the season Leo learns that Sticks could get a scholarship to a college for basketball. He finds a school that just had an opening. So he does whatever he can to get his son that scholarship. Leo ends up tearing his family apart with the lengths he goes to. I thought this movie was alright.

Surprise Chorizo and the Floating Castle

Well after two months I was finally able to go to a restaurant on my list. I went to Tight Tacos, the SE Division location. There is neighborhood parking on the streets behind it, but you might have to drive around a little. It is a small restaurant next to other restaurants and shops. They were only open for take out but there were picnic tables you could sit at on the sidewalk. The tables were in the shade so it was nice on a warm day. From what I could see inside it was clean and modern. There is some color and hanging Christmas lights. The service was good. I got three tacos: chicken, carnitas, and asada. I think that I got chorizo instead of asada. It was actually the best one flavor wise. The carnitas meat was good but there wasn't a lot of flavor. I forgot to ask for no onions so I had to scrape them off. The tacos were good. I would go back. The one problem I had was they serve the food in takeout containers. And they have tables for you to sit ...
