Chocolate Banana and the Haunted Mansion

On Thursday I was near Sellwood and decided to go to a place there on my list. It's a dessert place called Holler Treats. It's on SE Milwaukie. There is neighborhood parking. The decor is bright and fun. A very 60s mod/disco vibe. There are a lot of pastel colors. There is a mural behind the counter with cartoon spoons, cakes, and so on. There are shelves with plants, disco balls, and roller skates. They also sell some small gift and party decor items. It is connected to an arcade. There are lots of tables. The service was ok. I got a malt chocolate banana milkshake. It was really good. It had chocolate syrup around the inside of the cup and fresh banana. I would go back. It looks like they have good cake.

Tuesday: From the Mixed-Up Files of  Mrs. Basil E. Frankenweiler (1973)

Claudia is a young girl who decides to runaway with her brother Jamie. She has it all planned out. They will live in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Every detail is planned so they don't get caught. One night Claudia discovers an angel sculpture that is about to be in a new exhibit. It was donated by a wealthy woman. Later Claudia learns it is believed to have been made by Michelangelo. She wants to prove that it was made by him. Claudia and Jamie do research and hope to prove it is authentic. Their search leads them on another adventure. I thought this movie was alright. I remember my mom reading me the book it's based on. It's a fun idea to live in a museum.

Friday: Wildflower (2022)

This is based on a true story. Bea is a teenager with two parents who are neurodivergent. Her grandparents and aunt try to help. But in the end her parents are determined to care for her. Or they try. From a young age Bea has had to help take care of her parents. As a teenager, along with taking care of them she has school, a job, and is on the track team. In her senior year she gets a boyfriend and starts to experience what it is like to be a teenager. Bea starts to think of what live could be like after high school. Then everything comes crashing down and an accident puts her in coma. This movie is good.

Saturday: Haunted Mansion (2023)

Gabbie is a single mother who moves into a mansion with her son Travis outside of New Orleans. As soon as they get there they realize the house is haunted. They bring in experts to help them. The group consists of a priest, a medium, a professor, and a scientist. The scientist is Ben, who has invented a camera that can catch the image of ghosts. They have to work together to find out what really happened to the original owners. And what they can do to get rid of all the ghosts. I thought this movie was really good. This movie is much better than the Eddie Murphy one. The attention to detail is amazing. The mansion actually looks like the on in Disneyland. It has the wallpaper, busts that follow you, paintings that change, and more. There are the iconic characters like Madame Leota, the hatbox ghost, the bride, and the hitch hikers. They worked it all into the story. It was well done.

Surprise Chorizo and the Floating Castle

Well after two months I was finally able to go to a restaurant on my list. I went to Tight Tacos, the SE Division location. There is neighborhood parking on the streets behind it, but you might have to drive around a little. It is a small restaurant next to other restaurants and shops. They were only open for take out but there were picnic tables you could sit at on the sidewalk. The tables were in the shade so it was nice on a warm day. From what I could see inside it was clean and modern. There is some color and hanging Christmas lights. The service was good. I got three tacos: chicken, carnitas, and asada. I think that I got chorizo instead of asada. It was actually the best one flavor wise. The carnitas meat was good but there wasn't a lot of flavor. I forgot to ask for no onions so I had to scrape them off. The tacos were good. I would go back. The one problem I had was they serve the food in takeout containers. And they have tables for you to sit ...
