Ember and the Wannabe Stunt Woman

 Tuesday: Spitfire (1934)

Trigger is a poor young woman who lives in the woods. She is wild. Her income mostly comes from cleaning clothes. Trigger is trying to be a better Christian. She prays for everyone. Strange things start to happen. A old woman believed to be dead comes back to life after Trigger prays for her. Trigger notices the baby of a near by couple is sick. Instead of seeking treatment the baby is left to die. So Trigger takes the baby. She hopes to make it better through prayer and care. When the baby also recovers people start to think she is a witch. They want to drive her out. I thought this movie was ok.

Saturday: Elemental (2023)

Ember's parents moved to Element City. The city is not made for fire people like them. They are not accepted. They end up finding a rundown house. They build it up and make their own shop. Soon the surrounding area becomes Firetown and they have a successful shop. Ember's dad want to retire and give the shop to Ember. But he isn't sure if she is ready yet. One day after an outburst from Ember pipes start to burst in the basement of the shop. Ember tries to fix it. Out of the pipes comes Wade, a water person, who was washed away into the pipes. He is a city inspector. He ends up writing up enough citation to shut down the shop. Ember has to find a way to save the shop. Along the way her horizons expand and she starts to discover her true dream for herself. This movie is good. It's not what you think it is going to be going off the trailer. It's an immigrant story. It also deals with race and interracial couples. It's creative.

Surprise Chorizo and the Floating Castle

Well after two months I was finally able to go to a restaurant on my list. I went to Tight Tacos, the SE Division location. There is neighborhood parking on the streets behind it, but you might have to drive around a little. It is a small restaurant next to other restaurants and shops. They were only open for take out but there were picnic tables you could sit at on the sidewalk. The tables were in the shade so it was nice on a warm day. From what I could see inside it was clean and modern. There is some color and hanging Christmas lights. The service was good. I got three tacos: chicken, carnitas, and asada. I think that I got chorizo instead of asada. It was actually the best one flavor wise. The carnitas meat was good but there wasn't a lot of flavor. I forgot to ask for no onions so I had to scrape them off. The tacos were good. I would go back. The one problem I had was they serve the food in takeout containers. And they have tables for you to sit ...
