Miss Fisher and the Sunken Treasure

Monday: White Heat (1949)
Cody is a thief. He and his gang rob a train. They go into hiding until they can safely travel with the money. The cops have figured out that Cody did it. There is no way for him to not get caught. So he confesses to a lesser crime so he will have to do less time. The cops can't pin the robbery on Cody. They send in a cop to go undercover. The cop, Hank, becomes Cody's cellmate. He gets Cody to trust him and hopefully tell him where the stolen money is. Cody is very close with his mother. He also has psychological issues that are slowly making him crazy. When his mother dies he is pushed over the edge and things go downhill. This movie was good. I'm not really sure what psychological issue he was supposed to have. It looked like a mix between a migraine and a panic attack.

Wednesday: Underwater! (1955)
Dominic and Johnny are scuba divers. They are diving off the coast of Cuba when they discover evidence of a sunken ship. When they consult with a priest they learn that it could be a lost ship containing treasure. Dominic and Johnny hire a boat. Johnny's wife goes with them. They find the ship but start having problems. Dominic is becoming sick from diving. Shark hunters discover what they are doing. The hunters want the treasure too. I liked this movie. Although I think the wife is supposed to be Cuban but the actress who played her is white. So that is problematic.

Thursday: What Dreams May Come (1998)
Chris and his family have dealt with tragedy. His two children are killed in a car accident. His wife has to be committed to an asylum after trying to take her life. They seem to be recovering when Chris is hit my a car and dies. Chris goes to heaven. His heaven starts like he is in a painting his wife painted of their favorite place. As he accepts his death his heaven starts to become real. He is starting to enjoy heaven when he learns his wife killed herself. Chris has to travel to hell to save her. I thought this movie was ok. Him being in a painting is interesting to see. He walks by tall flowers and the paint gets on his coat. He starts to sink in a pool of paint. The rest of heaven is different. It is a different world and a unique take on heaven. It just wasn't executed very well. Most of the acting wasn't very good. Robin Williams (the reason I watched the movie) was Chris. His acting was good. Chris has a spirit guide who looks like his former boss, Albert, at a younger age. In the beginning when Chris hasn't accepted his death, Albert appears blurry. He is shirtless and randomly dances around. It's just weird.

Friday: Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears (2020)
This is a sequel to the TV show Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. Miss Fisher is in Jerusalem to rescue Shirin, who has been wrongfully imprisoned. They escape by train. But Miss Fisher disappears from the top of the train and is believed to be dead. Then she appears at her memorial service in London, alive and well. The service was held at the Lofthouse manor. Shirin is there staying with her Uncle who had hired Miss Fisher. Miss Fisher learns about what happened to Shirin. When Shirin was a little girl she saw her family and her village be murdered. A sandstorm came and buried the village. Shirin was rescued. No one believes her. She must find out what really happened. Miss Fisher agrees to help, along with her former love, Jack, who was there for her service. They travel back to Israel. Miss Fisher discovers ties back to her friends in London. And that what happened also involved Alexander the Great and the Crypt of Tears. This is a good movie. I enjoyed it a lot. I liked the TV show. It is set in the 20s. And Miss Fisher is this smart, free spirited woman, who is ahead of her time. She doesn't need a man to rescue her or help her.

Surprise Chorizo and the Floating Castle

Well after two months I was finally able to go to a restaurant on my list. I went to Tight Tacos, the SE Division location. There is neighborhood parking on the streets behind it, but you might have to drive around a little. It is a small restaurant next to other restaurants and shops. They were only open for take out but there were picnic tables you could sit at on the sidewalk. The tables were in the shade so it was nice on a warm day. From what I could see inside it was clean and modern. There is some color and hanging Christmas lights. The service was good. I got three tacos: chicken, carnitas, and asada. I think that I got chorizo instead of asada. It was actually the best one flavor wise. The carnitas meat was good but there wasn't a lot of flavor. I forgot to ask for no onions so I had to scrape them off. The tacos were good. I would go back. The one problem I had was they serve the food in takeout containers. And they have tables for you to sit ...

Monday: Two Tickets to Broadway (1951)        Nancy is the star of her small town. She wants to be on Broadway. On her way to New York City she meets three woman who's agent is unreliable. Once in the city she meets another Broadway hopeful, Dan. None of them are having luck getting work. The women's and Dan's agent, Lew, comes up with an idea. He will get Dan and the four women onto Bob Crosby's TV show. And he will get their friends at the local deli to put up the money for it. The group is excited. They start working hard to put together some routines. Only problem is they don't actually have a spot on the show yet. Lew hasn't even been able to talk to anyone from the show. I liked this movie.
