Horse Races and the Runaway Train

Monday: Young Cassidy (1965)
John is a young man living in Dublin. He needs to work but his ideologies prevent him from keeping a job. He wants to fight the English to make Ireland free from English rule. John joins a army of local men to fight the English. Needing ideas for battle strategy he tries to steal books. The young woman who works at the shop, Nora, catches him. He doesn't put up a fight and gives the books back. Later she has the books sent to him. The fight is unsuccessful. John takes up writing. He gets closer to Nora. She encourages him. He turns to writing plays. His plays do ok in the beginning. They are controversial. Still his success comes later. I thought this movie was ok. Nora is played by Maggie Smith. I think this the youngest I've seen her.

Tuesday: Von Ryan's Express (1965)
During WWII a pilot named Col. Ryan crashes in Italy. He is taken as a prisoner of war. The camp he goes to has mostly British soldiers. They have tried escaping with no success. Ryan is now the highest ranking officer. He is not liked, but he is able to make things happen for the soldiers. Soon after he arrives they are loaded onto a train to Germany. Ryan comes up with a plan to take over the train and make their escape. He and the other soldiers are successful, but they face many challenges before they are free. This is a good movie.

Wednesday: The Killing (1956)
Johnny and a group of five men make a plan to rob a race track. During the race there should be almost two million dollars in the safe room. Two of the men work at the race track. Another is a cop. They know the layout of the building and how everything works. Johnny hires two outside men to cause distractions. This allows him to slip in and take the money and get out unnoticed. But someone else is onto their plan and it all goes wrong before they can split the money. I liked this movie. It was a little jumpy though. It kept moving forward and backward in time. For each member of the team it showed them preparing for their part in the robbery, doing their part, and then it would jump back in time to the next member preparing.

Surprise Chorizo and the Floating Castle

Well after two months I was finally able to go to a restaurant on my list. I went to Tight Tacos, the SE Division location. There is neighborhood parking on the streets behind it, but you might have to drive around a little. It is a small restaurant next to other restaurants and shops. They were only open for take out but there were picnic tables you could sit at on the sidewalk. The tables were in the shade so it was nice on a warm day. From what I could see inside it was clean and modern. There is some color and hanging Christmas lights. The service was good. I got three tacos: chicken, carnitas, and asada. I think that I got chorizo instead of asada. It was actually the best one flavor wise. The carnitas meat was good but there wasn't a lot of flavor. I forgot to ask for no onions so I had to scrape them off. The tacos were good. I would go back. The one problem I had was they serve the food in takeout containers. And they have tables for you to sit ...

He will get Dan and the four women onto Bob Crosby's TV show. And he will get their friends at the local deli to put up the money for it. The group is excited. They start working hard to put together some routines. Only problem is they don't actually have a spot on the show yet. Lew hasn't even been able to talk to anyone from the show. I liked this movie.
