Baked Alaska and the Widow Collector

After another good dinner at Huber's my parents and I went to the next place on my list, Memoz Dessert Cafe. It is on N Williams. The decorating is industrial with lots of bright colors as well. It is minimal. The cafe is a make your own dessert cafe. You choose the base, mix ins, and toppings. Then they bake it and serve it to you. I got a brownie with M&Ms mixed in. It was topped with baked Alaska. It was so good. I recommend the baked Alaska. My dad got a peanut butter cookie with chocolate ganache. He seemed to enjoy it. The cafe also offers a wide range of drinks from beer to tea. They also have board and card games you can play. We played Uno, which went on way longer than I remember it going. The service is good. I would go back for sure. The only downside is it is hard to find parking.

Monday: The Mad Miss Manton (1938)
After a late night on the town Melsa Manton discovers a dead body in an abandoned house. She calls the police. By the time they  return to the house the body is gone. No one believes her. Melsa has a reputation for pulling pranks. Since the police don't believe her, she convinces her friends to help her solve the mystery. A journalist named Peter writes about the situation. He doesn't believe her either but always ends up where ever she is. He senses there could be more to the story. Peter starts to fall for Melsa. The police continue to have little luck on the case. Melsa works with her friends to solve the mystery first. I like this movie ok. It's fun but not the best.

Wednesday: The Night of the Hunter (1955)
Harry is a con man pretending to be a priest during the depression. He gets close to widows and then steals their money. Ben is on the run from the police. He has $10,000 that he needs to hide. Ben hides it in a place only his two children know about. He ends up going to jail and being bunk mates with Harry. Ben is hanged. When Harry is released he goes after the money. He marries Ben's widow. Harry tries to get the children to tell him where the money is. They refuse and end up running away. Harry chases after them. This is a good movie. Although it does sound like a sad story, it does have a happy ending.

Friday: Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (2019)
It has been 5 years since the first movie's events. Aurora has come into her own as queen of the Moors. She gets engaged to Prince Phillip. Maleficent reluctantly agrees to meet his parents. Things go badly. Aurora is not sure if she can be on Maleficent's side anymore. After leaving the dinner Maleficent discovers more fairies like her. They don't like humans and are restless. Prince Phillip's mother, Queen Ingrith, hates fairies and makes plans to destroy them. Aurora and Phillip want peace. It all comes to a head in a battle. I liked this movie. It is not the best ever, but still enjoyable. I always enjoy a good fantasy film.

Surprise Chorizo and the Floating Castle

Well after two months I was finally able to go to a restaurant on my list. I went to Tight Tacos, the SE Division location. There is neighborhood parking on the streets behind it, but you might have to drive around a little. It is a small restaurant next to other restaurants and shops. They were only open for take out but there were picnic tables you could sit at on the sidewalk. The tables were in the shade so it was nice on a warm day. From what I could see inside it was clean and modern. There is some color and hanging Christmas lights. The service was good. I got three tacos: chicken, carnitas, and asada. I think that I got chorizo instead of asada. It was actually the best one flavor wise. The carnitas meat was good but there wasn't a lot of flavor. I forgot to ask for no onions so I had to scrape them off. The tacos were good. I would go back. The one problem I had was they serve the food in takeout containers. And they have tables for you to sit ...

He will get Dan and the four women onto Bob Crosby's TV show. And he will get their friends at the local deli to put up the money for it. The group is excited. They start working hard to put together some routines. Only problem is they don't actually have a spot on the show yet. Lew hasn't even been able to talk to anyone from the show. I liked this movie.
